So half a millennia ago, Europeans still had not found out about rubber and made their waders out of leather. Wow!! How exciting…. You guys dug deep for that one. I’ll bet tomorrow you’re going to have something about how a skeleton discovered in the mountains had a coat made out of leather….
Technically, they are right. Our body has two types of sweat glands: eccrine and apocrine. The eccrine glands, found all over the body) produce mostly salt water and are there for cooling purposes. The apocrine produce a more oily type of substance and are primarily found in armpits and the groin. It’s actually bacteria that create our odor. The chemical composition of the sweat mixed with our personal blend of bacteria is what gives us our own particular scent. The bacteria are particularly “fond” of the apocrine sweat, so that’s why much of our scent is concentrated in those areas (and why dogs sniff our groin). Broadly speaking, you’re smelling bacterial farts! The whole thing is a bit more complicated, but that’s it in a nutshell.

The severed head thing from 1988: is that where Matt Groening got the idea in “Futurama”?

I doubt very much if the person occupying that head would be very happy at all about the situation.

What is so unusual about the remains of a 16th century cavalryman being found by the Thames?

I’ve seen two movies where a severed head was kept alive. In both cases, the results were tragic.
