So what caused the Elvis Poof, the strange cat herself, or the fact that she has “way too many” toes? Maybe those extra toes can make up for the ones Puck is missing? (I may have been awake too long. Don’t mind me!)
Our kitties always let us know when something is out in the yard. Birds, bunnies, lizards…rarely a cat, though. The one time there was a cat, we brought it in, fostered it, tried to find the owner. No luck. An older couple in the neighborhood saw her pic in our HOA newsletter and adopted her on the spot. She was spoiled rotten for about 6 years, then the lady died. I got email from the widow who said he was moving to FL and I thought, oh, no! He wants to give up the cat. Nope. He wanted to know the best way to drive across the country with her. She now lives in a new home in Miami Beach.
If any cat comes around our house, She-Who-Is-Annoyed-That-The-Rain-Is-Still-Wet reacts like Elvis and Tabitha. Poof, yowl, flings herself at the window, must vanquish.
Super poofy Elvis saves the day! Yay! (((((((((((((sending out extra special bear hugs, prayers, purrs, orb bumps and boops to Witcheeminx, SheMc and all Orbsters dealing with illness, loss of loved ones and other troubles)))))))))))))) We’ve got you!
And for those who like cat commercials, here are some.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOyaP4Kr8R8My favourites here are number 14 (great lip-syncing) and number 6 (great cat-herding).The Sheba/Dine commercials in which the cat hypnotises the man are hard to find on You Tube. But there is this old one from Thailand.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GlFhU4I9a4
My late Blackie Jane, though a most timid and gentle soul, was the guardian of my home. One Saturday morning I noticed her, tail in high poofage, running from the living room to the corner bedroom and back, over and over, growling impressively the whole time. I finally realized that there was a kid riding his bike up and down the street and every time he passed the house BJ followed him to make sure he didn’t get any closer. For the rest of her life, Blackie Jane alerted me to new neighbors, meter readers, strangers walking past the house, and suspicious odors (as in supper is getting a bit scorched). She passed away ten years ago this month, and I miss her still. ♥♥♥
Our Dog, Iko, guards the house and keeps us informed about what is going on in the neighborhood.
Mckayla, who is the 19 year old Matriarch pretty much lets the world go on about its business. She just want’s to tackle the next nap and have her person bring her a small bowl of milk.
Mittens, the tortie, does keep an eye on the world but is mostly fascinated by birds. She reminds me of Tabitha because she does not tolerate any nonsense and she loves to annoy Giblet. She will stand outside Giblet’s room (our bedroom) just to make Giblet have a hissy-fit. Mittens has caught the red-dot.
Joel Grey is 16 and just looks for a warm place to curl up. He is our most gentle and loving cat. He really reminds me of Pucky. If you are having a bad day, Joel will find you and pat your arm and sit with you. He is incredibly empathic.
Giblet is the youngest cat but is also a total fraidy-cat. He does not like the dog, Mittens (his nemesis), birds, Squirrels, rain, snow or any part of the out-doors. If Giblet got his paws dirty, it is a national emergency. His coat is always perfectly groomed and he will never join the rest of the family on the couch. He loves my wife Marie and I, but would like to avoid the rest of the world.
This is our current family (not counting daughter and son). Every one of our pets have been rescues.
Happy Purrsday, orbsters and orbabies! I love the woman’s expression in the last panel, along with Elvis’ impressive poofage.
Yum Yum is also our self-appointed guardian. She bristles and growls when a stranger or a visitor she disapproves of comes on to the property. If that visitor happens to come to the door, she positions herself between us and them and continues growling and muttering at the stranger. I imagine Elvis is currently growling and muttering along with poofing.
Attention All Paws: Cuteness levels are rising above Cupcake and reaching Cat Comic! Cat your battle stations and…wait, who is snerking out there? Who is wearing that Hawaiian shirt? Ahh…never mind present toe beans and enjoy the cuteness!
Our Gene does the same thing when there is a cat on our patio. We have to calm him down with play and treats before he gets confused and attacks one of us.
In case anyone missed it yesterday it seems that some GoComics glitch has been fixed and posts from people who have been trying to post for the last month or so but couldn’t finally have stated to show up. Welcome, Le’letha, GSD Mom and SKYKEY2 and anyone else who has been having problems with their post not showing up. If you read this let us know who you are so we can welcome you to the Orb.
There’s often a cat that sits out on our porch, and meows at our cat inside. Our cat then meows back. Something that puzzles me is that cats only meow for humans. I can understand why our cat would be meowing, but what about the other cat?
So many people mentioning their good guardpets, I would just like to mention my fourteen[ish] pound dog, Ming, who barks like a maniac for the postperson, UPS, FedEx, etc.
Only when they pull out of our driveway.
AFTER they have driven up to the house, left their vehicles, placed packages on the doorstep, returned to the vehicles, and driven down the driveway.
