I stand by what I said last time: This captures how society handles modern sentiment. This only cements that. Good thing the rest of the strip derails all that for good times.
OMG! My most recent ex-wife would stomp and fume and stay angry over petty little nit-pickings until everyone around her was in a foul mood. Then she cheered right up! One of many reasons she’s now my “ex”.
I think we’re approaching the end of the original run of Calvin and Hobbes, and this week’s strips demonstrate why. Calvin started out as the sort of irrepressible scamp we all wish we had been, but by this point he’s devolved into an unlikable little jerk… like we actually were. During the two weeks of the beanie story arc, Calvin was never fun, just anxious and obsessive. Here’s he’s just a $&@¥. My guess is somewhere along here Bill Waterson decided he shouldn’t spend any more time with this character unless he wanted to ruin Calvin forever.

Calvin’s evil smirk looks like his evil smirk of decals showing him urinating on something.

Yup. Misery loves company. It is infectious, but so is a yawn and a laugh. Try to laugh more.

Considering cement comes out of the BACK end of cement mixer, stepping in front isn’t such a bad idea…as long as it’s not in motion.
