Hello. I’ve been a long time reader of frog applause (probably since I stopped reading Dick Tracy over a year ago, and wanted to find something as funny and surreal but less tragic), and I found this. Since then reading Frog Applause and Frog Blog became essential activities of my morning routine.
Probably this should be added to the bermuda triangle of productivity… great stuff… really addictive, Teresa.
As I read that you lost some regular readers/commenters, I decided to be more active, and stop being just a silent reader…
OK, I’ve got it! What appears to be a monster sitting on top of a tank is actually a monster/tank hybrid, known as “Dinosaur Tank.” It’s from the Japanese TV series Ultra Seven.
Hello everyone. I saw my name on the blog and I want to assure everyone that I am still here and I read Frog Applause every day. My lack of comments lately is due to the fact that I have found full time employment and also I have lost my high speed connection (I am back to dial-up). I too miss Sloop, Digital Frog, and the others.
Oh, the memories from today’s Frog Blog. Like Flight Suit, “Famous Monsters” was one of my favorite pulps as a kid. “Hara Kiri” cracked me up, because I scored a few issues of that while I was living in Italy, after it had been renamed “Charlie”. And it really was evil and stupid. I loved it.
There was also a publication called Linus, which featured numerous US comic strips translated into Italian.
QQ Time:
1) How many readers of FA & FB start their day with at least 30 to 60 minutes lost in time and space while reading the comics?
2) Is FA the first comic you read or do you have a set regimen?
3) Do you read FA as soon as it is posted or later in the day?
4) How many times a day do you go back to see what Teresa has posted and to see who has posted answers to your posts?
5) Why does this matter?
6) Do you care?
Be honest friends, you know we’re obsessed.
My Answers:
1) It’s the first thing I do after taking care of all the necessaries.
2) Often
3) When the sun is up, though I’ve been know to suffer from sleep deprivation
4) Too often.
5)Teresa deserve to know.
6) Yes
7) Going back to bed.
I carry around a rabbit’s HEAD. It looks funny hanging from my ignition switch; sometimes if I hit a bump in the road just right , the bunny glares at me
Me.
This is the first, because if I don’t puppies will die.
9:00 break, more or less.
Usually just the once.
See #2 above.
I wish I didn’t but…the PUPPIES!
1) About an hour
2) Set regimen - FB is 2nd, FA is 3rd
3) Later in the day,, sometimes much later depending on what crisis is currently pending
4) It’s a curse, 2 to 3 times/day usually - but I’ve cut back because of the impact on productivity (and rarely comment anymore for the same reason)
5) T is so PROLIFIC,, and so bizarrely surreal,, my right brain needs the stimulation (being a left-brained geek)
6) In a voyeuristic kind of way… I know all the regulars by their posts, but don’t often contribute - which is a cop-out, I know,, maybe when I retire…
I usually read the comics when I get to work (after the morning reports are done) and it often takes me an hour or more to get through all of the ones I read. After my day off (on which I don’t read the comics) it takes me extra time to catch up. Over Christmas and New Year’s (I only worked two days between December 20 and today) I missed all of the comics so now it’ll probably take me all week to catch up. I read in alphabetical order, though on occasion I go backwards from Ziggy to 2 cows, so this one is usually about 40% of the way through. And yes I read both FA and the blog, which sometimes on its own takes almost an hour.
QQ Time:
1) 30 - 60 min
2) FA is the last comic I read. It is right after the Fusco Brothers.
3) I read FA as soon as I can (in the AM usually 6-7 AM). I don’t always comment; just when I feel I have something to say. I read FB right before the comics.
4) If I have the time I might go back and see what new comments are there. Especially if there are not many when I first read it.
5) I think FA is one of the most original strips out there. It speaks to the human condition and Teresa’s definitely has created an art form exploring her view of the human condition. There is a philosophy there which I am not sure I grasp yet.
6) Do you care?
Yes, I care. Human beings are important to me. I feel I have a personal relation with Ms. T and the rest of the commenters. So this little daily ritual carries weight.
Again, I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
End my day with 30 t0 60 minutes of comics, and I have cut way back.
I have a set regimen, FA is the 4th comic I read.
See #2
Depends on how busy I am on any given day. I didn’t get back to the comics today until 7:55 PM.
Because you asked.
Yeah, I love the blog, and reading the comments from my fellow posters.
60 minutes.
Set regimen.
Varies, usually later, as with the other lineup.
Varies, if I have time, a couple, if not, not once.
It doesn’t, that’s the point.
I am a caring individual.
Dear Teresa,
I wish to report that for whatever reason we are attracted to you and your comics and blogs WE are truly devoted and and not leaving soon. I was curious to see if I was normal; for your readers I am very normal.
Thanks to you and all participants.

OMG, Teresa honors me!
http://obituarytypo.blogspot.com/2011/01/monster.html
Yet also challenges me, as I have not yet identified the monster in question, and a TinEye.com reverse image search proved fruitless.
Please stay tuned. I’m sure I’ll have an answer for you before too long.

Today’s strip is speaking volumes about my life. For now I wonder why my wife has so many pineapple adornments scattered around our abode.

Monsters of Filmland clearly shows how George Hamilton has taken tanning beds just a wee bit to far.
