The bad news is the President does not believe that global warming is a problem; the worse news is that Congress, a body that can override the President, is so dysfunctional that nothing would be done, even if the President chose to act on climate change.

Today’s strip has totally cured me of my daily Luann addiction. It has been my routine to read the Luann strip before I start my day. It was a warm & fuzzy way to ease myself into the real world. No more.As I was signing on this morning, I was thinking how nice it would be if there were spinoffs from the original strip. I would love to only see the Brad & Toni story line. I still want to know what happen with the inspector! But today – Shannon & global warming have killed all the reasons why I read the Luann strip. Why must everything in the world today be politized.

The People of the United States are in charge of the United States. The president is but an overly important servant, he is not a dictator. Also, the People’s power is constrained by the rights of individuals, and by reality.

At least that is the theory.

You know being a teacher it is amusing, and kinda terrifying that people who have a certain political/social/religious view of the world think that Public Schools teaching current science is engaging in brainwashing. Constitutionally if public schools started teaching religion that would be unconstitutional, but is preferred by these same people who claim that Christianity is in essence a state religion, which belief is totally against the First Amendment. So….GnK actually put their foot into politics, particularly religion, on EASTER SUNDAY of all days!! Jesus H.Christ!! Let me compliment them on taking this step, whatever one’s point of view is on global warming, the fact that a young person would have an interest in an important public issue, and that Brad recognizes that he needs to give her some context, and the kind and loving way he does it, is really the point here. I am fully expecting a lot of hatred expressed in various ways to this post, but remind that the person whose day this is said that we should love those we disagree with, not hate.

Not that it will change the minds of the climate change deniers here, but: https: //climate. nasa.gov/ scientific-consensus/ [remove spaces]

Then only thing I’ll add is that “natural” climate change has not been not benign to human existance. It has in various eras been responsible for the deaths of large numbers of people (and the upheaval of civilizations) so maybe the possibility that human cause and influence, which can to a certain degree be changed, might be looked at more positively by the deniers.

Completely wrong, and part of the reason why we’re in the deep kimchee we’re in now. The president is NOT in charge of the country. The Framers deliberately wrote the Constitution to create a weak president, one that would have to be co-equal with the judiciary and legislative branches.

Good news: this is only a comic strip.Bad news: Lots of people will point to this strip as affirmation of this incorrect understanding of the most important document in Western history. (Well, maybe tied for most important with the Magna Carta.) I’m disappointed in you, Greg.

I think everyone who has paid any attention to the natural word around them for the last 40 years would be able to think of a few things that have changed in their local environment in that time frame. 40 years ago the sound of the birds greeting the morning sun would waken me early in the morning announcing the new day. Snakes, frogs, toads, fireflies, wild rabbits, etc. would be a common sight in my yard. Today I can go a couple days at a time without hearing a single bird singing. The wild animals have mainly disappeared or are much rarer then they were. These things tell me our environment has degraded. given the lack of major ecological disasters in this part of the world, it seems obvious to me that humanity is the cause of many of these changes. I don’t find the concept that we are affecting the environment far fetched and that may very well include the climate as the weather patterns have also shifted dramatically in that same 40 years. I have old photos showing me as a 8 year old standing atop snowbanks next to hydro wires on 20 foot poles. Now even the deepest snowbanks are maybe half that height and the snow melts within a couple days instead of lasting for months. It’s possible the climatologists have exaggerated their claims to a certain degree to get the attention of the media and to get information about climate change to the people, but unfortunately in our culture unless you are screaming and doing everything possible to get noticed you are ignored.

Distressing to see Luann turn political. Climate alarmists are brainwashing our children with garbage. The same people that predict global warming predicted an ice age was coming back in the 1970s. Then they predicted we would run out of oil by the late 90’s. Scientists agree to it so they can get grants and favors. You’ll notice they always want to shut up people who disagree and say the science is “settled” because their alarmist claims can’t stand up to scrutiny. It’s all about money and control..carbon credits..smog checks etc..all ways to take your money. anyways… Happy Easter Everyone!

We use LEDs, but keep them turned off most of the time. We don’t drive much—stay at home. We haven’t been on a plane in years. We plant many trees—at least every year, we buy a new one. There are two major sets of data out there regarding the temperature of the planet. The older one consists of readings from major cities for decades, supplemented more recently (the last 60 or so years) from smaller sites, and also (finally) from the ocean: it shows warming. The newer one, starting in 1979, comes from satellites scanning the temperature over the ENTIRE world: it shows no discernible warming.

I choose to believe the one that measures the entire globe.
