I agree with the Lady! I too have crossed paths with these so called experts that wish to inundate the remarks with their web based intellect. This is not reasoned discussion, it is nothing more than an adolescent fit. But again, perhaps they, like our current president, are permanently developmentally challenged. Many middle school students do grow out of this. Some don’t!

To paraphrase a line from an old MAD Magazine: “With enough Tweets and enough Talking Points, I can PROVE that Rhode Island is bigger then Texas!”

But this implies that there is no such thing as objective truth, which the law of noncontradiction denies. I think perhaps a better statement would be, “With enough Tweets and enough Talking Points, I can CONVINCE others that Rhode Island is bigger than Texas!”

Donald Trump was so afraid to debate Bernie Sanders that he waddled off to a “veteran’s charity” event on the night it was scheduled to occur.

Months afterwards, an “enemy of the people” reporter had to remind Donnie that the monies collected for the veterans weren’t his and he needed to distribute them (minus a handling fee).

The fundamentalist right has worked for decades to make inroads into the Republican Party. I think Republicans from times past (and some from the present) would be horrified by the transition away from science and towards faith-based reasoning— otherwise known as alternate facts or truths. It has been a sad thing to watch, even as a Democrat.

Brian, Jim Wright has written about a similar experience.

Readers, this time, of the librul persuasion.

“Even though I read only your last post or two, I know everything about your position and you won’t debate me because you’re a coward.”

Not exactly endearing to their position, whatever it might be.

Never argue with an idiot because other people won’t know the difference

But if you don’t argue with them, they get to control the narrative. They get to convince people about their stupid arguments. If you assume that common sense, truth and simple human decency will win out regardless, you haven’t been paying attention to Fox News.

Brian. I see that you might have been inspired by some of the Twitter exchanges by Dinesh D’Souza with Kevin M. Krause (a Princeton professor of history, who is definitely worth a follow). Picture D’Souza in the Tyler role here.
