Ooh…slander! Allegations of flaws in the Boys! I like that Puck objects to “weight”, Elvis to “hairball”, and Lupin to “control”… And love those crazy eyes…crazy eyes here means zooming is imminent!
How’s that magazine, Woman? I see we have a guest star today.
Lupin reminds me of a cat I once knew who jumped from the floor to the mantle, landed without touching anything, and proceeded to walk the length of it knocking everything to the floor.
Georgia’s latest tweet below has a link to her instagram page with notes on her process. A behind the scenes look at how much work goes into creating her wonderful world of BCN.
Art imitating life, eh? I hope the real BCN crew adapt to dietary changes better! In theory, Akiro is supposed to eat a prescription food … in reality, he tries to bury it. From the smell, I tend to think his is the correct response. We went back to his normal food but have added a medication to keep his issue under control.
I really wish sometimes that I was more tech savvy. I’d LOVE to post pics sometimes. Like today – there’s absolutely beautiful tulips and hyacinths along the house wall, along with white, tulip-like spring ephemerals along the wooded floor of my nearby “jewel”. And all, ALL have the magical quality of poking up right now through pure white snow! Just fell last night. Looks BEAUTIFUL (even if it is unsettling as heck!)
Only Ben remains with us today. Puck crossed the bridge about 4am. Oddly, much like Huck, she seemed fine less than 10 minutes before.
Ben is still eating and pottying like a champ. He has a major temper and really good lungs lol. PJ wanted to check out the baby while I was holding him. She decided to be sweet and give him a bath – which woke Ben up and set off a major temper tantrum! PJ kept (lightly) tapping him like she was trying to find an off switch. Guess she didn’t realize he had an alarm.
Off topic. Georgia posted on Facebook a description of how she works. I can’t copy the bulletin board she describes but here’s what she says: "In the “AV room” of the BCN network! This is my ever-working file of all the CN news station identifiers, plus other little odds and ends I might need to grab and paste into the comic during the editing process. Every week I write seven strips (six dailies and one Sunday), draw them in pencil, ink them, and paint them with watercolors. Then I scan the pages (usually three; six dailies split between two pieces of paper and one Sunday on another), cut them up into seven files, add the text in a font created from my handwriting, and sprinkle in these station identifiers. The Sunday is done at that point. For the dailies, I then save a color copy and create and tweak a black & white copy. Finally I hand all 13 files into my syndicate, @andrewsmcmeel / @gocomics . They take it from there, check my grammar and spelling, look over the art, and then send the strips hot and fresh to your newspapers all across the country! (Wouldn’t you love to see a Mr. Rogers-style segment of how your comics come together, hosted by an animated Tommy? Holy Cat, I would! Maybe one day!)
This file makes the editing part easier for me. I had a slightly different one in the web comic days, this one was updated for newspapers. And you can see, I have some identifiers we’ve yet to use! I like to think of this as Burt’s video editing tool kit (mine too). Happy Saturday!!"
Indignant Elvis toe taps in panel 2 and slashing tail in the last panel. Lupin crazy eyes. Puck demonstrating that he’s a good boy. I love all of Georgia’s little touches!
Hint to any rookie cat companions reading here: Introduce the new kibble as a treat with all tiny portions, ceremonies and activities associated with treat time. This is guaranteed to work. Sometimes.
Like I’ve always said, you need a dog in a household with cats. The dog keeps the cats active, keeps the cats out of trouble too and last and certainly not least with a dog in the house if the cats hork on the floor you will never know it.

They get enough exercise as it is. If you switch their kibble, you’ll get exercise by trying to prevent a miniature category 4 hurricane.

“I barely nap between naps.” Love it, Puck. What is the Woman thinking? You don’t need no stinkin’ weight control kibble.
cat19632001 over 5 years ago
I think the Woman’s efforts are “dead, done, done for, finished, kaput (also kaputt), ruined, sunk.” In other words – doomed.

I’ve been puking my heart out for you, Woman
On the floor ’most every day,
I’ve been puking my heart out for you, Woman
So the rug is washed OK
(I’ve been trying every day).
…….
You may think I’m bein’ really mean, but how else would you keep that rug so clean?
This is how show my love for you, why do you give me kibble I won’t choose?
See how Puck and Lupin try to do their best to keep in shape as well,
So like Kit Chase, we will do what we can every day.
…….
I’ll be puking my heart out for you, Woman
On the floor ’most every day,
I’ve been puking my heart out for you, Woman
So the rug is washed OK
(I’ve been trying every day).
