While I don’t think New England is known for its venomous snakes, our new friend is probably wise to be at least cautious. Always be polite to snakes.
Excellent snakes in literature roll call: Louise the Larger, from Madeline L’Engle’s “Time Quartet”. Kaa, from Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” stories (but not any of the movie adaptations, which always get him very wrong). Crowley, from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens”. Suggestions please!
OT: @Maizing brought up the topic of the novel, Watership Down (which I love!) yesterday. So I have a question I’ve always wanted to ask my fellow Orbsters: have any of you read the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter? I’ve been following it for a number of years! I know it’s categorized as a “children’s book” and I admit, I’m an almost 64-year old female, but I can’t help it; to me it’s just a wonderful series! It follows 5 clans of cats living in the forest through several generations and how they love, suffer through hunger in the winter, and fight to defend their boundaries (just like humans)! I highly recommend reading it!
Ah, that contented look on a cat’s face when they not only know that they are a calming presence, but when they know that you have finally realized it as well.
Burt is so calming, I am falling back to sleep. Slightly off topic, what and where is this Spring whereof you speak? It’s going to be chilly and rainy and below normal temperatures past mid-May.
Now, off subject, I’ve always wanted to join Sherpa Comics but it’s been nearly two years since GoComics dropped it and I fear it will never come back. So I am thinking of joining Patreon. Is this a good site?
Ya’all have a great weekend!!! I love you and boop you even when I take a hiatus!!! Goin’ to the “big city” today to be “needled” by vampires. Sis is with me.
Gonna chill ‘till Tuesday. Sis may use my laptop today to give you an update on sweet little TJ. Sure wish he liked car travel so’s she could bring him to visit his crickety ol’ Auntie Shaunn! Ah well, he’s in clover is that little furball!
If I could ask please for a boop or two and some Orb power, my longtime significant other is at his doctor’s office right now to find out results of a biopsy on a small tumor in his neck. He has had a couple of previous bouts with cancer so although he is seemingly unconcerned, I am tied up in internal knots. Appreciate all good thoughts!♥️
An update on the fencing: the cat still hasn’t gotten out, but here’s the thing. Another cat…got IN. And then that cat somehow got OUT. And this is a problem because now we know that it’s possible, but we don’t know how…
Reminds me of a Maine Coon cat who got stuck on the wrong side of my back wall for two days. He was friendly. He was enormous. He was enormously friendly. When my cats tried to take offense and hissed at him, he viewed them as quaint. Fortunately, his owner came around calling for him. The cat returned the next day. Since I now knew where he lived, I walked him home. On subsequent visits, he was able to get home on his own.
Hi all,Sis is home and not too badly drained. They have done a lot of construction and road changes in the last few years and we had a little trouble finding the place, but all is well. Now to just wait for the results.TJ is doing well and getting well acquainted with my house. He spent a lot of time sleeping on my lap yesterday but had to get up when the phone rang and I realized I left it in the next room. Poor baby. He found a box and I put a jingle ball in it. Wow, what a hit! He is settling in very well and sends his little squeaks out to all the Orb.
Managed to catch Skywalker. She is not happy with me – especially since one vet tech ignored my “feral” warning & opened the carrier before I could stop her! Skywalker hit the floor from the top of the table! She’s back in the carrier with a pheromone soaked towel, now. Hopefully no more damage was done in this fall.
OT: Happy 100th Birthday, Pete, where-ever you are. Maybe he’s even playing that banjo at the Rainbow Bridge, trying to get our furkids to sing along. “Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?”
My spine is not only stable, it is actually better than it was nine months ago. Surgery, while probably not permanently off the table, certainly got pushed a little further back.
And I got pushed, with doctor approval, to the start line of the Running of the Bulls 8K in Durham on June 1.
I just discovered that my new female parakeet is a bather.
I have noticed that both of them like to get all the way down on the bottom of the cage and pick at stuff. Tug on the edge of the newspaper. That kind of stuff.
That’s why i put a cat toy ball in the bottom. She plays with it. :)
So i put a shallow dish with water in it down on the bottom. Didn’t take long at all for her to climb in! :D

So some say this is a dog. It sure doesn’t look like a cat. But if he is buds with Burt, I guess it is OK.

Can I borrow Burt for a while? I could use a calming presence.

I’ve known cats and dogs who were best buds. It doesn’t matter what species as long as they’re nice.

What is happening here?
Lupin’s had too much caffeine, it’s very clear,
Someone look at the lights
Is Lupin hanging from them, is he way out of sight?
…….
Oh, what a feeling!
Lupin’s dancing on the ceiling!
Oh, what a feeling!
Lupin’s dancing on the ceiling!
…….
Everybody jump and lose control,
The time is right,
If you see Lupin hanging upside-down,
Don’t get uptight
The only thing we want to do tonight
Is jump all around
And turn upside-down
Let’s join Lupin now!
…….
Oh, what a feeling!
Lupin’s dancing on the ceiling!
