    Good morning™, deep cover readers!

Why is the town president now called the mayor? No explanation quite yet on the anglicized Famon name.

    So, ‘Gordon’ was ‘Jim,’ huh?

And we all know who Jim Gordon is. ✨

Busting heads is the order of the day to shut the riot down. No trained riot police or tear gas I suppose. That and an undercover man.

A pity there isn’t an option for a soundtrack at this site; I’d recommend this for the current story arc: https://youtu.be/u9Cqu6iRC2E

Come on now, Mr. Doherty. Surely your style manual does not approve of “Me and Pat Patton. . .started shutting down. . .” That makes Tracy sound like a punk kid who never went to school. My teachers taught me that the simple way to figure out how to construct a sentence like that is to take out the other person and try it. You wouldn’t say “Me started shutting down” (unless you were trying to sound like Tonto in the old 1950s Lone Ranger show). You would say “I started shutting down”. Therefore, the correct construction is “Pat Patton and I”, not “Me and Pat Patton.”

Ok, did anyone else wonder about the hand placement in frame 1? When taking an oath of office – which, yes, I’ve done, so I have a bit of experience here – one raises a hand and places the other on a book (generally of one’s choosing, but an unnecessary detail for my point here, just as long as there is one). But in frame 1 there’s a book, but no hand upon it. So whose hand is under it? If DT’s, then that’s just wrong. If the President/Mayor’s, then where is DT’s? From the placement of the apparent thumb, it would be DT holding the book, as that would be a very awkward angle for the President to be holding the book… if even possible. It looks to me then that DT is holding the book he should have his hand on, not under. Weegel: simply an observation, as I am enjoying this MM and looking forward to see where it goes.

Notice, they didn’t even label it as a Minit Mystery today!

PAT: Deputy Chief! This will sure look good on the resume when Chief Brandon retires someday.

    TRACY: (rolls eyes) Sure, Pat.

This is only a resume’ of an old episode. I’d hoped in a new, original story!

Been away due to computer problems. I might stay away because GoComics has made itself so noxious with intrusive ads that assume I want to go to another page if my cursor accidentally moves across them. I won’t be blackmailed into paying for the no-ad version.

    I love the art.

Does anyone else think Chief Patton looks like W.C. Fields in panel 2?

The ultimate in Revisionist history. I guess the “Mystery” is why this off the wall narration was deemed necessary

Now, we know how Tracy and FBI agent Jim Trailer know each other and Tracy and Patton’s long standing relationship…

I like the “backstories” as they make the story plot lines more understandable…

This is not a mini mystery, too much introduction. Not enough for the story.

Well, look who’s here. Jim Trailer! That’s a Blast from the Past! But, other than raids as in The Untouchables, Interim Chief Tracy and Deputy Patton had better get on with whatever the main case is here. If it does start now, give it a week or so to be dealt with, plus a day or two for wrapup….

Okay, I understand all the exposition now. This week – 87 years after he first appeared – Gabe Famoni is now canon as the name of Dick Tracy’s first foe :)
