In today’s world, this comic strip might be rewritten to teach the boys a different lesson aside from “It will okay to catcall if you are older and have change for a dollar.”
Their word choices are odd. Dessert. One in the middle. Flatten my beach towel. Red is my favorite color. You can’t tell from the dialogue if the boys are looking at the girls or imagining how they would choose their favorite food.
“flatten my beach towel” is the most provocative because it would imply Gordon is interested either in a girl good with handling laundry or a girl that has some weight to her.
When this strip first ran, the girls asks the boys if they had change for a dollar because they needed to use a payphone. We updated the dialog not only to remove the payphone reference, but we also thought the girls should confront the boys about their behaviour!
None of them will be Supreme Court Judges. Our “society” has gone to hell. We’ve lost all common sense. Political correctness has ruined this country. All those that want this crap can kiss my ass.
I do my best to ignore women and children. I have seen some fear and am well aware of their mind set so I do the best I can to not seem intrusive or aggressive. Men need to know this an be aware of their surroundings. It took me awhile to figure this out for myself.
Can’t help but think what their mothers would think if they saw this. Doubtful Elly would approve of Michael’s behavior. Not sure about Gordon’s mother. However, I recall Carol Enjo being smug and catty with Elly about Michael getting disciplined at the summer camp for being an attempted Peeping Tom. Imagine the look on her face when she sees Brian engaging in the same behavior!

I bet the girls’ asking for dollar was their way to stop the boys’ hassling.

In today’s world, these boys would be lynched. At the very least on social media.

Ha! I remember being in junior high, too. Had no idea what to do about girls.

Confusing. Getting the attention you think you want in a way that you don’t want it.

I’m embarrassed by their behavior. That is because it reminds me of my own clueless early teen years.

I’m surprised they would be able to stand up, without revealing an embarrassing …er… lump.

Those kids should be pleased. The girls could’ve called them what their behavior reveals that they are: glassbowls.

If you act like a kid, they have every right to call you a kid-AKA boy between 13 and 18
