As the process continues, the election comes closer. Pelosi is playing this well. The Supreme Court will support the House subpoenas. This is both stare decicis as well as seeking to preserve their authority and power with respect to the executive branch.
Then public hearings will begin.
Meanwhile, the other ten criminal referrals will make their way through the courts, turning up additional felonies. There will be more public hearings, more testimony and evidence of felonious behavior.
Slowly the regressives in the middle will get it. They won’t like it, but a good number of them will turn. When they do, the Senare will turn. But you don’t want this process to go on too quickly. Otherwise Pence could garner a sizable sympathy vote.
So the right thig to do is immediately impeach trump, remove him from office, and then indict and try him and his family and those in the administration who have broken the law.
But the smart political move is to let the process proceed, hold the inevitable public hearings, and allow them to be in full swing much closer to the election.
Repeating an observation I’ve made before: Let those who want to pursue an impeachment inquiry go ahead with it. It keeps them occupied and out of mischief. Encourage those who have not already declared they’re running for President to do that as well, same reasoning.
What was the “backfire” of the transparently dishonest Clinton impeachment? Publicans lost some seats, true, but not enough to make a difference. Possibly it led to Gingrich’s departure; if so, “it’s an ill wind that blows nobody good”, as the old saying has it.
We should all rewatch the interview of a Trump supporter after she attended Congressman Amash’s townhall. Her words: I never knew there was anything negative in the Mueller report. I only watch conservative media (Fox News) and they didn’t say anything that I just heard. Well…duh…
If Pelosi weren’t following up on the Mueller information, I’d be peeved as heck. But she is. Leave the timing to a master of politics: I think it will work out fine.

By all means listen to the Democratic National Committee – they did such an absolutely fabulous job with the last presidential election . . .
(sigh)

Failing to even investigate the possibility of impeachment could “backfire” in the next election.

Hang in there. We don’t want him impeached; we want him imprisoned.

Expose as much as you can of all his misdeeds.. Show Americans of all stripes just what a charlatan they have as a president.

This cartoon would be a lot more accurate if that were an elephant in a donkey mask on her left shoulder.

Not could. Will. Especially with the Mueller report coming apart at the seams.
