OT: Nushi update – So I think she is continuing to improve, which is good. That shows that she hasn’t become completely resistant to the drug. I found a small scab on her today, the 1st I’ve seen from her shots, and I think it happened when she jerked away on Sunday. Still better than the lesions some folks have gotten. I’ll keep an eye on it. Still getting an occassional cough and a small throw up many mornings. Mostly just the yellow stuff with very little if anything in it. I think she may have a small hairball?
In terms of Nushi’s response to the shot pain, I spoke with my vet, and he said that the back leg ataxia issue with gabapentin is only at higher doses, so I went ahead and got some. I think it helped, but I lost some portion of the shot and had to give her most of tomorrow’s. The problem is that it’s hard to tell if you completely missed it or if a shift made you lose part of it. All in know is her back was greasy from the meds so I had to wash her back again, which is ok till it’s rinse time. She HATES that, but it’s critical to get the meds off her skin and fur so it doesn’t cause sores. The last time I had to rinse off her back she got so upset I saw her reach down to bite me, but with teeth on my hand she didn’t do it. She let go, looked up and yowled. I think that’s amazing and I told her I was so proud of her. I do my best to make it up to her after the rinsing is done. I’ll know better how well the gabapentin helped when the shot goes in all at once.
Thanks all and purrs boops and hugs to all! (((((((((((Mega-Orb and Team Nushi))))))))))))))
Morning all. This morning will be adventurous! In an hour, it’s back to the hospital to x-ray and put on a full cast. Hopefully no resets (that will hurt like ****) then a cavity to be filled. Is 8 am too early to slip a drink in there? LOL
The ‘IN’ thing here for young birthday honorees is a small ‘Smash Cake’ in which to do just what The Baby did. I think it is a bad thing to teach children, but if they are going to smash the cake anyway, better they have their own and we get an un-smash cake.Just hope that the tradition stops before they go to school.
How many of you out there have pictures of your kid doing this? I have one from 1979. After the face plant my son reached over and grabbed his grandmother’s face and kissed her. Cake everywhere!!! Ah, memories!!
Don’t know if I ever stuck my face in a cake, but we do have a photo of the time I finger-painted my entire body and face with chocolate pudding that my godmother thought would be a good thing to give to an 18-month-old.
OT: Team Nushi: Here is the link to the GoFundMe page for Nushi. For those who don’t know, “FIP” stands for Feline Infectious Peritonitis. As the name implies, it is a horrible disease, and until very recently, 100% fatal. No animal deserves to die like that. https://www.gofundme.com/help-nushi-beat-fip Please give whatever you can. The treatment is very expensive.
The best cake (near) destruction I’ve ever seen was at PJ’s grandnephew’s 2nd birthday party. The cake featured a plastic Thomas the Tank Engine on frosting tracks. B took one look, yelled “TOMMY!!!”, & proceeded to run Thomas back & forth on the tracks. Luckily his mom was there to intervene before he could saw the cake in half completely.
My wife was a towhead. On her first birthday she did what the baby did except that the target was blueberry pie. It took a long time to get the blue out of her hair.
Asking prayers for my friend, S. She checked in on her cats at lunch time, only to discover one of her older cats was in some form of distress. In spite of the vet’s best efforts, little Storm Drain (named for where he was found and rescued from as a kitten) couldn’t be saved. Please keep S. and the rest of her clowder in your thoughts and prayers. Rest in Storm; you were so loved and you will be so missed!

Maybe some people I see wouldn’t be such old poops if they face-planted a birthday cake once in a while.

Kiki decided to come out and check out the living room this morning. She just loves to watch my cat TV.
She decided to approach the birds at one point and Jack (Cockateel) started fussing and fluttering, and Kiki departed the living room in haste. :D
Right now she’s sitting on the arm of the couch on my right (watching the birds) and Sweetheart is on my left. Getting random rubs and scratches.
I’m happy. :)

As much fun as cats are this is why there should also be a dog in the clan. Clan up is extra easy and the dog is thankful too.
