“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” To paraphrase Antonin Gregory Scalia yup you are born equal after that all bets are off. The constituion pretty much negates the declaration of independence.

I remember a guy from high school who fooled around with some explosives. He had a very, very pained look on his face and no fingers or thumb on one of his hands.
