Listen, I know I should just let the story unfold and enjoy it without getting ahead of it…but Endtown is so deep and complex, I can’t help it. And I would have been perfectly fine with letting it unfold on it’s own…
…But then came the declaration on Sept 19, 2016 that THERE IS NO MUTAGENIC VIRUS!!!
I couldn’t let that go! No one in the strip has mentioned it since: not Wally, not Aaron Marx, not the Doctor, not Ballard.
So, from then on, I’ve been hooked on figuring out what’s really going on.
Other things that have been revealed: There are multiple parallel universes that are regularly crossed; there are beings, such as Aaron Marx and the Lucranians, who can navigate from one “Earth” to another with ease; there are objects and people in Endtown that are invisible but can be seen with special goggles; at least one of the invisible people is a Topsider; Dittos escaped from a Lucranian salvage vessel, meaning they are not from Earth; that book showing Holly and Wally on the cover; the fact that the suits the Topsiders wear DO protect them from SOMETHING, even if it isn’t a virus; the fact that Wally can control dittos, just like Aaron Marx…
all of this is adding up to something, but I can’t quite close the loop yet…
We don’t know if Holly is content, really. If she senses that her world is not more than playing at having a human husband and child, her story is not but a lie, she will be unhappy at some level.
Just because Holly’s on the cover doesn’t mean she’s coming back. Unless there is a reason for her to bring the Edmund Fitzgerald to Eden, it would require Wally and company to backtrack to their best guess of where it may be. The dittos might be able to act as a compass to the dittos hiding the ship, making the trek easier, but that would be a whole arc within this arc.
Just because there are characters in the comic doesn’t mean they’re all necessary. It may mean the objective is harder to reach, though. Also, the comic book doesn’t have to be exact to be of importance. It’s purpose may be to provide clues of the problem they’re facing. Mainly the invisible presence on the beach.
Here is a little thought to kick around. Maybe the gang is still on the Edmund Fitzgerald. We saw Wally and company get “removed” but we never saw them move on and we did see the Fitzgerald get covered in Dittos (just like what happened at the end of the Spark Plug Jones arc.). Wally nor Kirby remember how they got to Eden so at this point, they could still be no the ship.
Didn’t we see a Ravenscroft skeleton when Wally was bursting those bubbles in the hold of the Fitzgerald? I wonder if people continue to exist after death in the Fitzgerald’s data banks?

I’d say “What a twist!” but the saying has turned into a Gordan Knot by this point.

Anyone who tries to structure their life based on the contents of a comic book is most likely going to be disappointed.

So, there goes the theory that Wally saw the book cover and that was what made him storm out in anger.

Ah, so Holly was originally a mousy blonde!
I’d say that he’s got everyone’s attention now… especially beyond the fourth wall…

Jim/I statement comes back. Do you want to know how she dies? To escape Eden…….Wally may have to kill Holly.

Interesting. Aaron has said that Holly & Wally wouldn’t always be main characters for the series, but now this.
i only hope he doesn’t rush an ending the way Terry Moore did (IMHO anyway) in Strangers in Paradise.
