I want to thank everyone here, especially Georgia, for providing a comfortable place to rest.
I am a 72 year old veteran of Vietnam with PTSD and a few other problems. My PTSD is exacerbated by much of what I see in the news, on TV, and what I see and hear on the street. I registered with Go Comics because I felt that venting on the political cartoons might release some of the tensions I feel, and I might be able to offer facts and ideas to those who care.
I also go to the humor and story boards to find a way to recharge. I was raised with dogs and was introduced to cats in my mid-teens, and love them too. I also watch a lot of science and nature shows on PBS, as well as some of the British mysteries.
I don’t always read all of the comments here (time being the issue) but the love people here show each other helps a lot.
Yesterday I told someone on BCN that we humans could be most loving by letting our sick cats pass away. I meant that. Well tonight, my husband and his sister had to decide whether to keep their brain- dead mom on a ventilator or let her go. Remember, there was no chance of a normal independent recovery or any more self-awarement. So they D ’ced the ventilator and let her pass away. Meaning they authorized the hospital to do it. You know what, it was a kind and loving gesture to make for a mother as well as for a cat.
Elvis, you definitely don’t want to go out there: it’s wet. It’s going to be OK! Look at your Baby Girl. Look how sweet and asleep she is. She knows you’re bravely protecting her.
(Raven slipped around me once while I was putting out dry cat food for the strays in the middle of a giant rainstorm: my apartment door opens on a covered area. He bounded off towards the stairs, realized it was pouring, and backpedaled. Fast. I was very relieved – finding a black cat in a thunderstorm would have been No Fun.)
It hit me the other day why I love BCN so much. It presents a kind and caring comic and community in the face of a troubled and angry world. But it so much reminds me of the “shorts” that used to be on TV as fillers when many hours had no programming, just test patterns. I remember each night waiting for the new 5 minute installment on the story and anticipating what would be presented the next night: Just like I anticipate eagerly each day’s BCN installment. The current story arc is especially that way and brings back some fond memories of days long ago. Thanks, Georgia!
Don’t want to be a pest, but still missing Shaunnmunn. There has been so much sadness here on BCN lately, I do miss her loving spirit. Hope all is well and that we will hear from her soon. Also— to all who are hurting, sending a big hug your way.
Look how fashion conscious Puck has matched the color of his rain gear to his eyes. It’s pouring down rain, they have no power, and they’re doomed but Puck is always stylish.
Even though Elvis is a bit of afaidy-cat, complains all the time and is more than a bit of a fusspot, he has a heart of lion. He would never let anything happen to the Woman or the children.
I am always amazed at how my cats are able to totally disappear in the house, no matter how much I look for them. I didn’t know they could also do that to other cats!
I have often wondered if Georgia realized when she began this strip that as well as creating an entertaining and amusing comic, she was also creating a community filled with the most welcoming and friendly people. Whether she planned it or not, that is what she did. And I for one am extremely grateful. There have been many times when it has just been too hard to get through the hours each day until I can get here.
Good news for our family today: Paul’s younger son and his wife welcomed a lovely little baby girl into the world yesterday afternoon! Her name is Emma Rose. She goes back on my blanket knitting list!
Just want to say, RAGs, I’m sorry you’re still dealing with the past. And mostly, I want to thank you for your service. This site is a good place to be.
On youtube, a long time ago, I saw a video called “News for Cats.” It had a segment called “Other Cats, Are They from Hell?” Don’t worry, BCN is hands down the best cat news available.
When I first saw the real Goldie’s pictures, I thought she was a male. She looks so strong.
And those eyes just captivated me! She looks straight into the camera, as if to say, “I know just what you’re talking about. Boy, could I tell you a story or two!”
Poor little Elvis is terrified. My grandmother and mother were terrified of storms. Grandma used to place her children in a hall closet during the lightning and thundering. Which of course made mom just as terrified.
I might have missed another comment on Puck’s fangs showing in panel 1. He looks so resolute! Also, still love, love, the cat ear shaped hat he’s wearing.
Back from Nashville, which was miserably hot and humid, and not much better at home. I’ve tried to keep up with things here but probably missed a lot, so let me offer to all of you congratulations where appropriate, purrs, prayers and boops to all humans and furbabies in need, and my sincerest condolences for all losses, and hugs just because. My ♥️best friend’s testing is done, should hear results next week.

Elvis, be sensible. The Woman only has two hands. She can’t carry you and two children. You are perfectly safe where you are, which is inside.
