These spammers have pretty much killed my incoming service. I let the machine pick them up and 97% don’t leave a message. One that does is ‘Microsoft’ fishing for my bank account.
Come to think of it, I don’t know when the last time was I saw a B.C. phone gag. What do they use now, clams as flip phones? I wouldn’t think their phones could be too “smart”.
I get all kinds of scam calls that say to enter this or that on my computer’s command line. When it reaches that point, we hang up. They’re nothing but a nuisance. But if they claim to be e.g Microsoft and somehow manage to damage your computer thy’re open to all kinds of legal liability. .
Several states and even the feds have passed laws about robocalls. And we’re getting stuck again! It’s an excuse for companies to add on another fee. It doesn’t work because so many calls originate from outside the US and are therefore impossible for the law to stop and the callers immune to prosecution if they were caught. Another snow job. Call blockers can work but there too the better ones aren’t free. Welcome to “between a rock and a hard place” yet again. At leat this time it’s not life threatening. Oh, and you’ll still get political calls.
Scam Artist: Sir, your computer is sending so many error codes to Microsoft that is overwhelming their servers. You need to let us help you fix your computer so that it stops doing that.
Me: Great! That means that free program that I download from the Internet, ‘Stick It To Bill’, is working! Serves him right for stealing so many ideas from other people, and leaving them broke, and furthermore and so forth and yada-yada-yada until they hang up!

I’ve never figured out why “Bob” from Microsoft almost always sounds like his name should be “Abdul” “Rajesh” or “Xin”

There are a bunch of YouTubers that play with the scammers. This guy likes to trick them into giving him access and messing with their computers:
