A few years ago when my great nephews were much younger my sister got them a gaming system. They opened it and set it up without even looking the book. Eep!
Listen, Opal, with the cr. . .uh . ..stuff that’s on TV, it doesn’t matter whether you can hear it or not. We disconnected our television 15 years ago and haven’t missed a thing. Friends and the library keep me up-to-date on IMPORTANT series . . .Murdoch . . .Vicar of Dibley. . .mostly, I read, though. . .
Opal, you still have lots to teach him! Boys need to know how to sew, cook, clean, AND all those other skills that were gender-defined in your generation. If you don’t teach those skills to him, they may be lost.
I’m solidly in Opal’s court on this one. I really think there is an opening for a business along the lines of “Rent-a-Kid” to help those of us “of an age” getting electronics started up. A young neighbor (aged 14, me aged 70+) helped me hook up and start the Blue-Ray player to my television. Nothing comes with printed instructions anymore, so it really doesn’t help to say “it’s all in the instructions,” since most of the instructions are now on-line – which is little help when you’re trying to your computer to log you on-line, isn’t it?
Not in this day and age Olivia….I wouldn’t have a clue. In fact was on the bus going to a doctor and the bus was late and even after the lady told me how to do it I couldn’t. So she pushed the keys and I even had a hard time talking into it. Finally got it but give a regular old fashioned phone. Don’t have a cell phone and don’t want one.

It’s the circle of life – you teach them, and they teach you.

Opal we all learn from each other. Someone had to teach Nelson before he taught you ;-)

The way of the world….kids today know nothing of what we learned back in the day, and they know everything about today’s trends and ELECTRONICS!

Technology increases at such a rapid pace, and the kids are more attuned to it through their peers shared experiences.

Don’t worry, Opal, you’ll have your opportunity soon enough!

Who taught you life is/should be fair? Never was…never will be. Ask my stubborn sister!

Our Family Business taught me to stay as far away from running a business as possible. Of course, I did retire during the time of the 40-hour week.

If it wasn’t for my 9 year old granddaughter I’d be lost on this damn computer.

You can still teach Earl, and that will be a challenge.

Hell, our 4 year old grandson is teaching both wife and I how to use smart phones. Parents got him an ipad when he was 2 1/2 years old

It’s all in the instructions – if you still have them.

Everybody teaches something—and everybody learns from someone else. No one knows it all. Opal and Nelson are both lucky to have each other.

We can all learn from each other…if we can learn at all.
