Never badmouth the ex. You never know if they’re going to get back together. The best strategy is to just shut up and listen. Connie will go from “love” to “despise” at no time flat.
I remember my Ex, and it took 3 tries for me to go through with my divorce; I finally did as he started slapping our daughter. 4 kids in HS was rough, but we managed.
Which advice columnist was it (Ann Landers or Dear Abby?) that always use to say something to the effect of:
“You’re much better off being alone than wishing you were alone.”
Guaranteed that when it comes to a “spoiled, narrow-minded, manipulative chauvinist pig” (Elly forgot to mention “Momma’s Boy”! while she was at it!) like Ted, sooner or later, Connie was really going to wish he would just go away and leave her alone!!!!!
