I’ve seen ghetto blasters retrofitted to take a phone where the cassettes used to go. I’d love to see an Apple watch redone as a turnip style pocket watch.

Aw heck. My first PC had a little green screen, a crank on the front to get it started, and a door in the back where one shoveled in coal to keep it running. DOS 2.1, .bat files, and edlin FTW!!

I still have, and use, my AOL e-mail address from the mid 1980s when they were pretty much the only ISP in town. It’s been free for a couple of decades now. Informing friends and family of a new e-mail address is a tedious pain in the ass. It’s not like notifying that you require a forwarding address or a new address. Give some of us old farts some credit and cut us some slack!

I still have an AOL account. I even still pay for it, though that’s because of the various services they include that I’d otherwise be paying more separately.

I never had AOL as an ISP, but I got one of their free Email addresses some time ago. It doesn’t hurt to have a couple of extra web mail accounts to use for different things.

I remember modems that would work with pulse dialing. You saved a little bit on your phone bill by not using DTMF.

I still have an AOL address, though it’s no longer my main one. Why get rid of it? I use different email addresses to sort different types of email. And the AOL one doesn’t get spam.

Phone shaming is real. Only from the I Phone people. They shame each other for not having the latest one, and they shame people who ,OMG!, aren’t in their cult.

AOL, where folks chose handles that include numbers so they could be unique. It got so that this habit became a de facto convention outside of AOL. I’ve managed to be codedaddy as a username with all internet accounts (no numbers) for nearly 30 years with little duplication conflict.

I only recently gave up on my second ipod Touch as a podcast player when the screen became unusable. The first computer that I paid for was no-name XT built by a local computer shop with no hard drive, just two 5 1/4 floppy drives to boot from. The first program I ever wrote was stored on punched paper tape.

My current laptop is (gasp!) 10 years old. I was told recently that the poor thing was old and slowing down and really should be replaced. Since I’m more than seven times older than my laptop, I suppose that makes me "old and slowing down and really should be replaced. "

U.S. Congress and staff still routinely use fax machines. This explains why they ask tech con men like Mark Zuckerberg such intelligent questions when they grill them.

Nothing wrong with AOL mail. I’ve used it since the days you paid for the service and dial up, and I’ve never had the first real problem. Also, they don’t read your mail and sell the info to others like Google g-mail does.

I still use AOL for email without a problem. They identify and divert Spam to a specific folder so I can dispose of it properly. I also use an iPhone 4S and have few problems other than not being modern enough to update some of the apps I have on it. Every once in awhile I’ll get an message from some app saying my version of their app is so old, and that I should update it. As long as the old one works okay I don’t really care about it.
