There are a dozen or so mixed oak varieties in our yard. In 20+ years of watching and raking, we find that white and post-oaks drop by early December. Reds just hang on until the new leaves push the old off the branch. The rake doesn’t rest between Oct and mid Mar. But the process of renewal is part of what makes life more interesting.
Normally that would be true. But the last few days, we were living in the snow globe, with tree branches bent and breaking under the weight of wet snow on their leaves.
