We are fortunate that cougars, bobcats and lynx never figured out that all they have to do is rub against and purr at a human to get all their needs taken care of for the rest of their lives.
Yer best bet is the 4 wheeled kind, long outta production by Mercury. Restoration etc would be much less expensive than the real thing… but in a purrfectworld I AGREE!
Can’t argue. Felis silvestris managed to domestic itself and spread over the world. But the popular notion that humans domesticated cats to serve as mousers is likely incorrect. Through human history, when we wanted to get rid of rodents, we turned to dogs who would work on command. It seems more likely that cats did take advantage of the rat-grain association for their own purposes but the humans just liked having them around. And they were good sailors and so went everywhere men sailed.
Note that there are many great stories of human working groups who treasured the cats that adopted them. See The Cat Men of Gotham: Tales of Feline Friendships in Old New York. https://www.amazon.com/Cat-Men-Gotham-Feline-Friendships/dp/1978800223

And it’s well-deserved success, too.

Success: When one gets up in the morning, goes to bed at night, and in between, does whatever they want to do.

The editor in me wants to swap the order of ‘you’ and ‘do’ in that sentence.
