Athens is a city, but the other three (Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete) are islands. And Crete is a pretty big island, with multiple cities where a ship could be stopping — Chania, Iraklion, and Agios Nikolaos, for instance.
I’m just sayin’, “stopping in Crete” is a pretty vague destination.
In 1964, I was in a battalion of Marines that sailed to Okinawa on the USS Mann. It was like a Navy ocean liner. The enlisted men bunked below decks and the officers and dependents had staterooms. Some of the dependents had pets and they were on that level, too.

Good one, but I think the correct locution is “the bilges”. (“A bilge” is the curved part of a ship’s hull at or below the water line.)
