    To be a good reader, one needs serious, long term exposure to books and print media. With about a third or more of all secondary graduates reading at the 6th grade level, and more than 90% attuned to distracting digital games and social media, it is very unlikely they would tolerate long periods of listening to a reading via the device pictured. Unless, of course, they could Twitter at the same time. (In short, the process is self-defeating.)

    A good reader makes all the difference. . .I’ve got a bunch—and am always looking for—Audibles with good readers. Course, a good plot with strong characters never hurts, either. . .

    I use audiobooks a lot, and a lot of them come with “attached PDF files” you can download to see on your phone or computer… though I don’t think this would work well with a coffee-table type book.
