    Helpful but unnecessary for Arlo.

Maybe the holiday music should last as long as the Christmas Spirit and start the same way.

Back in the 80s, the union that represents retail clerks in Austria brought suit trying to have continual Christmas music declared illegal.

It is not so much the sound, but more so the rhythm of the soul…….

(Arlo can hum “Linus and Lucy”, and they both can choose from the ‘Peanuts’ dance styles.)

Here, the station that does all-Christmas music format started November 5th, and so far they’re still running it (currently.. Frank Sinatra with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”).

Generally the fifth place station in Chicagoland, every year they basically double their ratings, and lead the entire market. Why stop so soon, it’s still the holidays!

Didn’t listen to ANY Holiday music this year. Discovered some brilliant young concert pianists last year and am still finding new works they’ve done.

It used to be close to this format: Week or day after Thanksgiving; 1 song every 3 hours, 2nd week; 1 song every 2 hours, 3rd week; 1-2 an hour. On Christmas eve straight through Christmas around 8-10 PM; continuous playing. Just too much of the same 100 songs for this length of time for me. I may stay for one song and I’m done for the day or week. But, if others enjoy it, so be it.

My wife of all people commented to me yesterday that she’ll be so thankful that the Christmas music will finally end at her place of employment. (She loves Christmas, I swear she watched all the Hallmark movies this Xmas season.)

There is music Janis. In Arlo’s mind.

But I guess Janis is going to have to dance like no one’s playing music.

Beside music, Arlo often hears Ludie in his head. Beyond Christmas Eve, that is. :o)

The “Christmas Season” runs from 12/25 to 1/6. Advent is another thing entirely.

I don’t mind listening to the music, but people who have to gussy-up a song drive me NUTS. Either sing it the way it was written or write your own danged song! Doing that to a song such as Little Drummer Boy is one thing, but hymns – and the National Anthem – are off limits, IMHO.

The steps to the dance are best left to chance, better beautiful than perfect anyway.

My mother the christmas fanatic has always started playing christmas in September & and kept it up – not quite 24/7, but pretty much whenever she’s home & awake. As a result, I hated it by the time I was 12 – which has held until I’m pushing 64, with no signs of abating. (And becoming an atheist by 18 didn’t soften my feelings on the matter).

    I dance with Arlo today!

Kids gave everyone a Google Mini. Not sure I’m (76) going to adapt. I’m the wiz kid in the family when it comes to IT but that little electronic hockey puck worries me.

Admire those who dance alone, as they are the only ones who can hear the music in their head.

Not so much now, but back when I was younger, I would get the urge to play Christmas music in the summer – or anytime during the year I felt like it.
