This reminds me of the quirk with the word ‘unionized’. How you pronounce it may depend on your vocation.

This is the general problem with Caulfield. Intelligent interventions, even if disruptive, are good to liven up a class. Wiseacre interruptions take away from productive time that less gifted students need.

The Italian luthier would have said “eccola” and NOT “voilà”, so the pun is rather lame.

Questo fumetto mi ha fatto troppo ridere. Sto contento che non bevevo Dr Pepper nel momento… Ça aurait été une catastrophe!

If an Italian luthier had been drawing Superman, would he have invented an Italian Luthor?

“Voila” isn’t Italian. It’s French, so it’s the French luthier who would “voila.”

This would be a good opportunity for a cameo by Viola Voila, Girl Insect from Pogo…

There’s an actor, Ian Hart, who wrote, “There’s a statistical theory that if you gave a million monkeys typewriters and set them to work, they’d eventually come up with the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Internet, we now know this isn’t true.”

But there are 26 letters in the alphabet and no real limit to how long or short you can make a word, so you’d think we’d be able to come up with enough words so we didn’t have to deal with ones that look almost, or, shoot, exactly alike and mean completely different things.

Language is funny. Which kind of funny? You’ve got plenty of kinds to choose from. The good news is, you can use the same word to describe them.
