Southern DE, and we’re still getting 60 degree weather. We usually don’t get much snow beyond 6-8 inches a few times each winter, but the most I’ve seen was one very light dusting that melted by lunch. I’ve been saving more on heating, but I wonder what this means for the summer?
I was noticing that even though the trees are bare, the fields look like green velvet from a distance. This warm winter seems to have been a good thing for some of the low growing plants.
Our jonquils don’t seem to care about the mid-20’s nights and 40’s days. They hold up for 3 weeks or more. The plants I admire in winter are Lenten Roses. They bloom during the hardest season, and the blooms last until late spring. A large burst of pastels to color sometimes weak winter sunlight. Nature continues to amaze.
I get to be first to say that in Colorado, that’s not a weird winter, that’s normal. Yesterday it was nearly 70 with snow all over the place and today it is 30 and snowing.
Frazz16 hrs · Complain as I might about my inability to put more space between my production and my deadlines, there are still times when enough can happen during that margin to make it seem like forever. When I drew this one, I figured it might push a few people’s buttons because, well, it seems even the mere mention of weather or climate pushes people’s buttons, especially people who don’t know there’s a difference between weather and climate. But nope. While this strip sat in the pipeline, I suspect the hotter button is now the fact that it mentions China and the idea that anyone might want to dig there, or go there in any way, form or manner right now.

Oh boy. I get to be the one to point out that the only place you can dig straight down to China from is the middle of the South Atlantic.

As for the idea of going to China right now, I just don’t dig it.
