I rather enjoy being a pile of blankets. Of course, every once in a while you will need to refill and/or umm, make room for more cocoa, cider, coffee, tea or whatever hot beverage of choice. It’s a trial for the human to get out from under all the blankets, and tends to severely annoy any cats who are sharing the blankets.
I just love how happy Goldie looks. Safe, warm, cuddles, and Lupin at least sharing the same sofa without (much) complaint. Reminds me of one of the very few times Kitten Dell successfully snuggled with Old Grump Chessie – “What do YOU want, kid?!” “Snuggle warms. It’s cold.” “…Just this once.”
Let’s see … average cat is about 18 inches long from nose to tushy … and a twin sized fuzzy blanket is about 5 ft x 8 ft …
… I’m about 5 ft tall and to achieve cat-like fuzzy blanket nirvana I would need one about … 18 ft x 24 ft … hmmmm … and my couch would have to be about 15 ft long …
This is practically cat heaven. My two love it when I’m in the recliner with nothing to do but binge-watch old Godzilla movies. Just me, my flannel pajamas, a carafe of coffee, the remote and two cats sucking the heat out of me.
Elvis and Lupin wearing sharp sweaters for the report, Puck buried up to his neck in blankets, Goldie in her jammies snuggled up with the family and wait – Goldie and Lupin together?? Maybe the blizzard IS a bit of a wizard!
Panel 1 “Woooosh”: I remember how the windows in our summer/weekend home, a 100-year-old farm house, would make that sound with the wind. It was softer sound when the snow piled up. Sometimes there’d be a rattle too.
OT question for the Orbsters of the Jewish faith: is there any kind of traditional gift that is given to a young girl on the occasion of her Bat Mitzvah? I was raised Catholic, so the closest frame of reference I have is Confirmation, when most of the gifts I received were of the paper variety found inside greeting cards.
My niece turns 13 tomorrow (notwithstanding the fact that I can remember holding her and singing “Return to Pooh Corner” to her on the day she came home from the hospital) and her Bat Mitzvah is on Saturday. I had planned to go with the safe choice of cash for a gift, but I am open to other ideas. Thanks!
(Also, those of you so inclined are asked to pray for traveling mercies for us, as we are driving up to Massachusetts on Thursday morning to attend the festivities, and we all know how well my last road trip went.)
I have a ferret named Blizzard who COULD be Lupin. But usually when she’s gone invisible it’s because she’s IN something, not in front of something white. I once (EVENTUALLY) found her sleeping in an empty paper sugar bag which I had saved on a lower shelf to put small trash in.
I also have an outdoor cat Camouflage called Cami, who is a pastel tortie who looks so bright orange and pink that you wouldn’t think she could ever hide any where. But she lives in the wood pile and when she is in or on the woodpile she can’t be seen till she moves. We think wood is brown, but the woodpile must be grey and pink and orange, ‘cause those are Cami’s colors and she is perfectly hidden in plain sight there.
Bad weather is usally a truce for animal squabbles except for predator and prey which is never a truce. I’m surrounded by woods, and the cardinal pairs give each other a rough time except in bad weather. I’ve seen as many as six pairs of cardinals in the same tree waiting their turns at the feeder.
Today is Sweater Day, supposed to be highly appropriate to this month. I wish it would get cold enough to wear a sweater. I have several I’d love to wear, but I can’t remember the last time I wore one.
Oh, when it gets cold around here, I just love to cuddle into a blanket, pull part of it up over my head and wrap the edge of it around my face! So snug!

I don’t blame her for the blankets, but four cats will generate four times the heat (and cuddles) than a blanket.

I think the woman has hot cocoa. It could be tea but that wouldbe inappropriate for a blizzard.

I’m Into Something Good – Peter Noone (and Pucky ❤)
Woke up this mornin’ feelin’ fine
There’s somethin’ special on my mind
Last night a blizzard blew into our neighbourhood, whoa yeah
Somethin’ tells me we’re on the couch for good
(Somethin’ tells me we’re on the couch)
It’s the kind of storm where the snow really flies
So we’re all together with fuzzy blankets piled high
We couldn’t be more comfy if we tried
All snuggled close you see like I hoped we would
(All snuggled close like I hoped we would)
Somethin’ tells me we’re into something good
(Somethin’ tells me we’re into somethin’)
