Arm load of medicine later ( no I did not look at any side effects) and I should finally stop coughing! And I’ve lost 3 pounds to boot! Still don’t feel like eating… I know…
I have slanty floors in my house. I live in the house I grew up in. As kids, we used race marbles in one room which we knew had a slanting floor. We’d line up the marbles and block them with some sort of barrier and then take away the barrier and the marbles would go rolling to the other end of the room. We used to “bet” (no actual betting) on which marble we thought would win.
National Get Up Day. I didn’t look to see what they mean by this, but rest assured, I will “get up” today sometime. I’m not going to spend my entire day off in bed. I have things I need to do today.
National Freedom Day. I’m free all day to do as I please! I have 5 or 6 things on my to-do list (I usually call it my “round tuit” list because it’s stuff that I’ll do whenever I get around to it), but if I don’t do them today, I can do them another day.
National Baked Alaska Day. I’ve never had baked Alaska
National Texas Day. My dad was in the army in WWII and he said the song is right – the stars at night really are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas. He said stars look bigger down there than they are up here in the mid-west
Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Hmmmm, there’s an idea I could go for!
To Queen of America from yesterday – I’m sorry to hear about Patches. Cancer really sucks. It took my Dolly from me so fast, it nearly made my head spin. From finding a small lump on her head one day to her death a mere 3 weeks later. She was eating well up until her final few days but was still rapidly losing weight. I was going to call the vet to make that final visit to end her suffering on Monday that week, but she died at home on Sunday. It took me a good week to accept that she was gone so I wasn’t looking for her or calling other cats by her name. Well, I can’t truly say that I’m over her passing, only that I’ve acknowledged that she’s no longer here.
Years ago, I had a mainly feral barn cat named Clancy. He would let me tend his wounds, remove ticks, etc., but he would not sit on my lap or do anything remotely resembling physical affection. After his best friend Heidi, my German Shepherd, died, I was sitting in the barn keeping my other dog company, and he crept up to me and put one paw on my lap, shook himself as if reminding himself that he was a feral cat and no snuggles, then backed away. It was the closest we ever came to physical affection.
C’mon, Chesney, don’t be such a sourpus! You know you want to join them, but you’re too stubborn to admit it. On another note, saw some finches while out walking today. They flew to and from some trees.
