I’m of German heritage and I’ve never been to Germany (for Oktoberfest or otherwise).

I’d think Andy would be more interested in the local pub bringing in some of those beer garden waitresses.

Poor Andy. Brexit dashed his hopes, I guess.

I can understand Andy’s argument… One litre is the equivalent to 1.76 pints (or 2.11 American pints)…

In the mid 50’s I was stationed in Frankfurt Germany and during the Oktoberfest they served dark Bully Bock Bier. Mmm good!

I think Jack might be Brexit supporter and never talks about Europe, lol. By the way this is February not October.

If you like drinking expensive beer with a drunken mob Oktoberfest is the place for you. I always preferred any one of the 100’s of other local beer and wine fests found any and everywhere in Germany. Oktoberfest is for tourists. A place like Killiani Fest, in Wurzburg, is for the echte Deutsche. So says an old Marne Dog.

I’m sure Andy would appreciate one particular tradition they had at Oktoberfest. Whenever the oom-pah band strikes up Ein Prosit everyone sings along and toasts each other. If your stein happens to be empty at that moment someone next to you will pour half of their beer into yours. You must toast!

Construction crane in the background. I’ll bet they are hiring. Pay’s good, too.

When I was 14 my family was on vacation in Munich, and our tour group went to the famous “Bier Hall” for lunch. As soon as we were seated, the beer wench came over and served all of us a liter mug of beer, including my brother, age 16, and me. My mom was appalled. I did get to take a taste/drink of it, and quickly decided I didn’t have a taste for the stuff.

Last Sunday, I mentioned that I’d been working in Sandbach, Chester and I made comments about three pubs there – The Cobbles, Ye Olde Black Beare Inn and The Lower Chequer. Yesterday and today, I’ve been working in Sandbach again. Yesterday, I found another pub there. It’s called The Swan and Chequer. I asked in there and in The Lower Chequer but no one seems to know whether The Swan and Chequer and The Lower Chequer are connected in any way besides having Chequer in their names.

After drinking the beer in Munich, I didn’t know how I was going to go back to drinking the beer at home. But one adapts.

European beer may be better than American beer, but as far as I know, Europeans haven’t come up with a good soft drink. (e.g. root beer.)

Keep it up, Andy, and you’ll be lucky if he serves you beer in a little glass.

Since there are approximately two pints to a litre, serve it to him in a litre mug and charge him for two pints.
