Oh no! But luckily, I’m certain that this strip is in NO WAY based on real life! (Purely the product of Georgia’s imagination. Pucky would never do such a thing, not even accidentally.)
When I was a kid my uncle in New England used to keep us supplied with Northern Comfort, Vermont maple syrup. In those days there was always a sleepy bear on the label, but they don’t seem to do that anymore.
Do cats forget they have tails? Living in my house with 4 of them, you might think that.
The newest member of the family, Holly Berry, is about 7 months old and has the longest tail I have ever seen on a kitten. She is constantly trying to grab or chase it. But no matter how hard she tries, the tail still has a death-grip on her butt.
O.T. Message from Georgia. “I have begun to receive concerned emails and messages, as some readers know we live in Snohomish County in Washington state. Thank you for caring about us and checking in! We are taking every precaution and washing our hands like crazy, and we have been having the kids do the same.I had an uneasy feeling about two weeks ago watching the news, and quietly prepped our home as though a hurricane/blizzard was coming. Restocked our winter pantry, bought some extra toiletries, replenished our cold medicine supplies, etc. I just had a bad feeling. I felt paranoid at the time, but now I’m grateful to that weird little gut tug.At the moment our kids’ schools are still open. The Man works in King County, so there are updates we are watching for and following. We are being careful.Thank you for your concern! We have prepped like New Englanders anticipating a storm and we are all washing our hands like a Scottish Queen plotting a coup. Stay safe everyone, keep washing your hands, rest and avoid the public if you don’t feel well, and take care of yourselves! Update: I just made the hard decision not to attend #ECCC2020 . I’m so sorry. I was so looking forward to speaking on a panel and getting to see local readers, but right now there are so many unknowns and it doesn’t feel like a good idea. Everyone I work with has been incredibly understanding and sympathetic that it was a tough choice to make, and I’m very grateful for that.”
Today is the Day of Unplugging. I hope the sewers can take it …
As for electrical devices, I’m old, arthritic, and I hurt, yet I still grind my coffee by hand, wash the dishes by hand, and build things mostly by hand. Power tools allow you to screw up a project far faster and more efficiently than you could ever do it by hand. Anyone who wants me to stop using power tools for yard and garden work is invited to come over and cut our grass with an unpowered push mower, turn our garden (by hand), and trim our trees. I will supply the hand tools for the latter.
So no, I’m not unplugged (though I’ve never personally been “plugged”). Unhinged is another matter entirely …
So, why was Puck on the table while there was food on it? We all know"the cat is not allowed on the table" is unenforceable at all times but when the people are eating it is usually a good idea to try.
Having raised a young one, and a goodly number of pets, I have had the EXACT facial expression of the Man’s in Panel 2! … … More times than I would truly want to count!! :)
My cats invariably find a way to get access to whatever they are attracted to at the time. I find myself tossing a saltine cracker on the floor for them just so I can enjoy my own in peace!
My ’service cat" Shellie is always on my vanity when I shave, & brush teeth with a SoniCare. She turned aroundwith tail swish just as I was loading SoniCare Buzzy tooth brush with tooth paste. Results stayed on her tail for 2 months & finally wore off from daily gentle tail grooms.
Years ago, I had a fluffy black cat—I think she was an Angora. So super fluffed tail. And we were drywalling the attic. I tried to keep the cats downstairs, but…well, you see where this is going. Syrup is way easier to wash off of a cat tail than drywall plaster!

NOTHING is funny when it happens to you, especially when you can’t just lick your paw and pretend it didn’t happen.

What is worse, maple syrup on your tail, or cat hair in your maple syrup! I think the tail is easier to restore.

Blueberry pancakes, with a touch of cornmeal and lots of lemon zest, are a favorite in my home. And real maple syrup, of course.

Hmm. Actually, it is. It really is.
Well, carry on.

And I assume Elvis means it’s a real predicament which is sticky. I would hate to think he intended “really sticky”, and failed to use the adverb.
