Pru is just the nicest, most honest, caring person in this this strips universe, Unlike Evans not to give a character defects. He just keeps her so sweet and good. If he writes her out she will be missed even though she was never a major player. But this week leads me to think it isn’t going to work out for Pru. Jet pilots crash.
Third grade? I thought when the Luann comic started in 1985, Luann was in the eighth grade. Is Luann trying to be funny or does her history with Aaron Hill predate the start of the comic strip?
Luann, you had a crush. Crushes don’t last. You saw him again after he moved to Hawaii. Did you see the old Aaron of the past or another person you never met before? Childhood crushes are outgrown. Now you are a young adult. It is time for you to focus on getting to know the guys than crushing on them which is a one-track mentality and guys are complicated than that. You did a bit of that with Jack which was a good start. Listen to Pru. There’s really no hurry.
Those who die unmarried and alone don’t tend to think about it along the way. Otherwise, they would get desperate and decide to “be in love” with someone.
It would be nice to have a character stick around that wasn’t stuck in some perpetual high school time warp; but Pru leaving to go back to the Big Apple, is kinda like Rosa going to Peru; don’t expect to see her back anytime soon either.
This all just seems like a contrived way to write Prudence out, instead of just letting her fade away like Delta or Knute. We go for weeks without any character development, then suddenly Pru has this life-changing event with a lifelong relationship that, oh by the way, we’re just now telling you about. Imagine any other secondary character dropping this bomb out of the clear blue.
Meeting the right person is so much luck. As Archie Bunker once said My little girl spends her life looking for mister right and who does she marry, Mr Wrong ski.
I’ve been reading this strip long enough to remember the love triangle between Tiffany, Luann, and Aaron. In the end, he went with another woman entirely.
Pru is so wise. Plus, her way of speaking and moving always shows signs of a great sweetness and theatrical elegance. She’s so happy speaking about Jan that it’s possible understand how much she loves her. I’m sorry she leaves, Luann needs to have someone like her in her life..
I think Pru will get all packed and then find out there is a flu in new york, so plans are cancelled and Jan travels to her instead and they have a wedding at the Fuse.
I am beginning to think that Aaron Hill is about to return. That would definitely make things interesting since all of the main characters had different experiences with him.
Pru’s leaving is sad, I always liked her a lot, and defended her character from some truly unfortunate stereotyping; I am hoping that was actually a good thing. Bleeding heart and proud of it. I think though that this is a development that will lead to good things for Luann. The whole series of arcs that started with Luann interacting with Gunther, and almost KISSING in his “Gulag” and Bets and Gunther, and the infamous “it” episode, which led to Tiffany, and her current misadventures into moral failure, started with Pru encouraging Luann to interact with people in person, and not on phone based social media. I think Luann may,and I say may, advance to a better place romantically. Maybe being more realistic might be a start. We have not gotten to the top of the roller coaster yet.
I had a quick fling with a girl at a party, but then I met the girl who became my wife, when I was in 11th grade and she in 10th. We’ve been together since then. Married for 31 years!
I know a woman who married a guy she met in the third grade. They started dating as sophomores in high school, and married against her parents wishes. They had three kids and an abusive marriage. They divorced after 24 years, 7 broken bones, and lots of counseling.
I’ve known a lot a lesbians and dykes. Pru does not seem to fit the character, but Tara does to a tee. Greg missed the boat by not making Tara the token lesbian. Hi Bryn, it’s John!
all of this serves to feed Luann’s fantasies of the “perfect” partner coming to her doorstep, the “knight in shining armor”, “love at first sight” the “happily ever after” story. These were the dreams and thoughts of a younger Luann. We (I) had hoped that she was growing out of this mindset, realizing that people (boyfriends and marriage partners) are flawed human beings like the rest of us, and you have to accept people as they are. So is Luann going to regress into her high school self? or realize that Pru’s situation may be more of the exception rather than the rule.
OK! These strips are thought out well ahead. According to Sheriff Mordecai, master colorist without compare. plot lines are developed a year in advance. So looking back thru Pru’s episodes she had three episodes in 2017. She tended bar and was wooed by Leslie, orchestrated the aborted Theater Camp and was conned by Ann Awful into free rent for her lingerie scam. Since that time she was basically a big sister/Jiminy Cricket to Luann.
So somewhere in the (not so) dim past GnK decided on a future plot path for the A-team; Luann, Gunther, and Tiffany. That path was eased or needed the space Pru occupied. Either at the DeGroot’s, the Fuse or the need for a big sister.
So the exit of a character occurs quickly. They disappear, like Knute, walk through an airport tunnel. like Gunther, or are given a wee-long episode fraught with sympathy. GnK are giving her a pretty good sendoff. In doing that Pru is revealing more of her back story since she got here in late 2015.
Will she leave Luann with some final words re relationships that turn her fortunes around? It may take us that promised year to find out why Pru was written out. And I think she’ll be more like Rosa and only seen briefly and on special occasions. Adios, muchacha bonita!

Pru is the sanest character in this series and just like Delta she’s getting put on a bus.

Whoa, wait a minute. Pru’s known Jan since high school and she’s “Never thought of anyone else?” Curious.
Take a look at the March 1st. 2019 Strip where Pru admits to Luann that she’s found dates on Date Pics.
Yeah, Yeah, I know what some “Folks” are gonna say: “People can go steady and still date others.”Maybe. But that’s a tad disloyal, IMO.

Luann is built (i.e., written) to fail at romance (never mind whether “romance” and “love” refer to the same thing). Prudence is a success.
It may not be logical, but it is How Things Are….
