They’ll leave and Crystal will only later hear about the incident on radio or tv and kick herself for not keeping that buzzard while sneaking a phone call.
What kid lets strangers in and then dresses their wounds? Especially in 2020? I would think Crystal has way more common sense and street smarts to do this. This is more far-out than all the “Moon Maid” story lines rolled together.
1. CRYSTAL BETH: We can turn the lights on now that the blood is all cleaned up…
2.…I even washed and mended your shirt. JAY BOGART: Great. You’re a regular Florence Nightingale. CRYSTAL BETH: Who?
JAY: She was a nurse.
3.CRYSTAL BETH: Whadaya sayin’ that girls can’t be doctors? JAY: Don’t be ridiculous. Of course they can’t.
WHATSRNAME: Now Jay. Girls can be anything they want these days. They just get paid less than the men.
JAY: Makes sense. Men got families to support. Current and the ones that didn’t work out cause your wife at that time didn’t understand your needs.
CRYSTAL BETH: Sounds to me like you NEED a kick in the sack.
JAY: You’re awful lippy for someone who just helped an armed desperado. See. I got my gun right…hey, where’d it go? I was just shooting it not long ago…? Hold on. PROPS! I LOST MY GUN!
Remember yesterday when someone was rushed into the hospital and the dr said “this doesn’t look too good” and we thought we’d see the OTHER people involved in this story too?
Leaving Tess off-panel is a good move. We know she is badly wounded, yet unlikely to die. Her condition creates tension, yet—as was often the case with Gould—the heart of the story is the criminal’s bad deeds and futile attempts to escape the fact that crime does not pay. Shaky is patched up, but he is far from in the clear. What happens when father returns home?
Careful,Mr.Wobbly,.That isn’t Bud Jenkins you’re dealing with.Unseen due to The Hayes Office is that Shaky must be bleeding all over the house—-and the bloodstains in Edisons’ car.Get the liscense,Crystal!
Bandaged arm, white blood? no holes in shirt nor coat. Crystal is a real multi-tasker, and she does this with no eyes!! Maybe she could try writing a coherent story for the strip.
Crystal is self-assured, ruggedly individualistic (probably reads Ayn Rand), and very sharp. She is blunt, even with the petty hood she patched up (that’s how she views him). Edison so far is staying out of this verbal skirmishing for the most part, letting Crystal and Shaky paddle the ping-pong ball back and forth.
It’s hard to say how this may go; does Shaky kidnap Crystal in spite of her spunk? Does Austin crash the patter-party? Do Edison, Shaky, and Crystal form a pact? Does Crystal find a private moment to tip off Honeymoon?

Good morning™, interrogators!
Quit asking so many questions! (It was probably a hunting accident. You have to watch out for those deer carrying shotguns.)

“I’m home from school.” Of course, on March 16, 2020, this statement has a different meaning than was intended when it was written several weeks ago.
