Sleeping has never been a problem in my famdamily. I have elderly relatives that can sleep 10 hours every night. I could sleep 9 hours a night if I didn’t have to get up to go to work. (yawn)
Speaking from 80+ years of experience, I can say that being an old person is similar to living long years in the same house. The foundation settles. The walls move slightly out of true and the windows tend to stick. The roofing shingles become less resistant to weather. The cold finds more ways to get through the insulation. The plumbing needs help. And the lights sometimes flicker. But, it takes the load and persists. And so do we.
C’mon, folks. Very late 60s here, and I sleep fine after days when I physically exert. Days when I snooze a lot, I mostly just doze or rest most of the night. Also, I don’t have as much muscle mass that needs tending to, so it’s the other parts that are resting. Just common sense. And fortunately I don’t have a lot of night pain to deal with; THAT makes a huge difference.

People who know me all too well know that short stretch is my 40s and 50s. Well, that’s an exaggeration. Not ALL of my 50s. Not yet. With all the pools closed while we try to contain the virus and the lake still too cold for mortals, my swimming options have, um, dried up. So I’m making good on that “someday” promise to reacquaint myself with running. So in addition to being sleep-deprived enough to draw this strip honestly, I’m pretty familiar with soreness, too.

Maybe you just need more sleep when you are growing and less when you are shrinking?

I have no idea what the kid is talking about. I get lots of sleep! Several times a day.

Everything slows down, even our brains, so we don’t notice.

I only got up to rest my back in a chair for a bit. And the phone rang. That didn’t help.

I guess I am late to the movie, but no mention of Caulfield’s parents, that I recall. And I am too tired to look it up. lol

Age bigotry is the new “okay” bigotry, especially toward older folks. Have fun, you’re next.

Got this one. When I retired it occurred to me that before lamps most people got at least 12 hours sleep in the winter. QED sleeping in is best!

My lack of sleep is not by choice. But come a little closer so I can smack you with my walker.
