That’s right. Whomever the new tenant is, he/she/it will be sharing the bathroom with Luann.

“Gal.” It’s gonna be a “Gal.”

Well, I am with Luann. If I have to share a bathroom, I would require the tenant to be a female. I think Luann could use an older woman’s influence beside her mom. Girls her age do not really listen to their mothers but they would listen to older girls. This older tenant could put Luann on a path toward a productive future. That is what she sorely needs. She has been in limbo forever. As some of you pointed, Luann Comics is all about an indecisive young lady who is forever in limbo…which could be true but I think G and K might be realizing the fans are losing interest in the title character and seeing they react to new and interesting characters and especially to Tiff’s personal growth, that they need to make Luann interesting. Nowadays “cute, the girl next door, friendly girl” is not interesting. No wonder they made Betty a killer in CWtv’s Archie series.

Luann needs a grandfather figure in the house. As parents, Frank & Nancy raised Luann with a “laissez faire” attitude. If Nancy was a tiger mom, Luann would be working on her Master degree and have plans to get PhD degrees. In her spare time, setup a non-profit that promoted “Community Service”. Brad was lucky that he was able to motivate himself and become a firefighter.Instead, we get Hilarious moments that make us chuckle and allows us to count our lucky stars.

Frank & Nancy need money to help pay for Luann’s college. Luann is only thinking, “Who can I have here that’s fun.” When I was Luann’s age, I thought anybody with gray hair was about 100. Many of us are thinking Tiffany would keep this interesting – but G & K may have something else entirely in mind. I like this arc.

Not sure where Pittsville is – but some say it’s in Southern California. We haven’t heard how much the extra room has been renting for. Hopefully less than a grand if a bath has to be shared.

I seen Frank wear a suit and carries a briefcase. He works in a office with other people. Probably has a college degree , make enough money to allow Nancy to stay home and to raise children. They have a master bedroom suite that includes a private bathroom. Frank seems to know on how handle financial matters. Nancy appears to be the bookkeeper, and property manager of Degroots Estate. Having children might have been an accident for them. But we enjoy the hilarious moments that make us chuckle out loud and be grateful that we are not characters in a virtual reality.

I think it’s funny banter (but will hold off on my other phrase-for now) but I am impatient to see the sudden plot turn as to who it will end up being. I don’t rule out Tiffany, although I like the idea of Tara. But just as likely to be someone new. Not a guy though, old or young.

All leading up to the introduction of a new character…… My opinion? If as a renter, I don’t get my own bathroom, it would be a no-go for me. I mean, really? A stranger sharing such an intimate space? Ewwwww. Even guests in my house have access to a guest bathroom.

Tiffany can dropout from the university and become a Steve Jobs . Start a cosmetic company with her connections in Europe and become a tycoon that surpasses her “Dad” business. Tiffany can turn Degroots home into a global headquarters! Luann can be Tiffany’s personal assistant.

When we bought our house many years ago – a condition was that the master bedroom had to have it’s own bathroom – for her. And that’s the way it’s been for over 20 years. I get the bathroom off the kitchen downstairs.

Anybody but Tiffany, please. (Well, or Gunther, but I don’t think they’ll go there. He gets along well enough with Les now that I don’t think he’d hurt his mother’s feelings by leaving.) That would be like a living version of a high school anxiety dream where you can’t ever get away from the nemesis of your past.

It’s been awhile since GnK gave us hints that Frank was still employed. When he mentioned “cushy retirement” on Wednesday, I presumed the reference was to his current retirement. This reflects back to earlier strip comments concerning how much debt the DeGroots were carrying and Nancy’s concerns about bills.

The model for TV, and apparently comic strip dads is the Ozzie and Harriett one from my, and presumably your (?) youth. That family had a prosperous middle to upper middle class existence, with Ozzie always playing golf, but to this project kid, no job. Could never figure that out. At least Ward Cleaver had a job, a good one, was at least middle management, and even though it was a White middle-class family, I thought that was a good role model. I really dreamed about having a dad like him when I was a kid, never knowing my dad. Having a job was part of that. -)

I thought Pru was living with the DeGroots as part of a compensation package for working at the Fuse and starting a theatre program there. She was from New York, didn’t have a place and the Fuse was just getting started; the DeGroot’s had an extra bedroom. It didn’t occur to me that they were aiming to make much money from that arrangement. TJ who also works at the Fuse is living (in part) courtesy of the DeGroots. They seem to be in the habit of making sure their employees have stable housing, and also that any $ going out circles around and comes back (a pretty good move). I’m guessing they will post their sign at the Fuse in addition to putting it in some local rag.

I hope it won’t be Tiffany. Tiff has shown some growth in that she knows what she wants to do with her life, and is working toward that goal. And please, do not start harping on the fact that she went to a party instead of studying. It was one party. ONE PARTY! That does NOT mean she is washed up academically, or on the verge of flunking out. If she continues to put partying over studying, then yes, she will have a problem. But I digress….

Lu on the other hand, seems to be content to drift along, and take what? 6 years? 8 years? to get a 2 year Associates degree in—-Liberal Arts? (AKA a you-want-fries-with-that degree)

Putting Tiff and Lu in such close proximity would make it all too easy for G&K to regress both of them to the middle/high school rivalry, as in: Lu and Tiff are fighting over a guy, ha ha….Lu and Tiff are fighting over a guy, ha ha……Lu and Tiff are fighting over a guy, ho hum. Yes, that might have been amusing the first 3 or 4 times they did it, but by the 344th time, not so much. And while Lu seems to be stuck in that mode, Tiff is moving forward. SLOWLY, true, but forward all the same. It would definitely be a regression for her.

Having said all that, Tiff moving into the DeGroot house is probably EXACTLY what G&K will do. Not happy with just beating the dead horse, they seem determined to reduce it to it’s component atoms.

While in the process of starting the new classes, she meets a nice guy who is interested in her as well as his career…
