National Let’s Laugh Day. With coronavirus fears, it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot to laugh about these days, but we can try to find something to laugh about. We have Annie and her Ten Cats here to give us a laugh.
I saw a deer while driving home from work Wednesday night. She was running straight for the road, ready to cross. I hit the brakes – luckily the car behind me was following at a safe distance so my sudden stop (or near stop) didn’t result in a crash. And luckily, the deer also stopped without crossing the road. I kept a close watch for any of her friends or family, but did not see any more deer.
Walmart is cutting its operating hours – closing early starting today. Our store hours until now were 6 AM to 11 PM. Now we will be opening at 7 AM and closing at 8:30 PM to allow associates time to restock, clean and straighten up the store. We are also (finally!) going to be setting limits on purchases, though I have not heard yet what those limits will be. We are expecting toilet paper on today’s truck. I expect some problems with customers when they find out they can’t buy 10 packages of toilet paper. Walmart is also extending the employee discount to cover food now (normally we get the discount on food only from Thanksgiving to New Year’s) and they are excusing absences if we don’t feel safe going to work. Anyone who gets sick and tests positive for coronavirus will get paid for up to 2 weeks staying home from work. That doesn’t even cut in to our paid time off hours – it’s free paid sick hours. One associate came to work sick on Wednesday. She was coughing & short on breath – 2 of the symptoms of t he virus. I heard she was told to leave work and get tested. I don’t know the results of that test. As to hoarding toilet paper, here’s another view of why people are hoarding it
I am quite pleased this morning, I got a small tax refund in my bank account. I can afford to try to see if there’s a dentist (preferably our regular one) who can take him on an emergency basis to see about his two back teeth.
I’m really glad I found Ten Cats. None of the other commenters in the other few comics I read seem to care as much about each other as this group does.
Not Mr Puddifoot Cat? Poor Charles Darwin suffered from migraines, how did he ever accomplish so much? I had them for 35 years and they sure restricted my life.
Leave it to American media. CBS ran a fear mongering piece on Covid-19 highlighting the deaths and the businesses and sports shutting down. After all that, at the very end of the piece they ended by saying the symptoms for most people are/will be very mild (you can google them) and most people will have it and not even know it and survive. But that doesn’t suit their purposes so they buried it at the end.
I got out and about today…7 stops. The lawyer’s office for check from my 2017 wreck (took my own pen in there to sign and touched nothing.) The vet for Lady Bird’s cold laser therapy (did not leave my car),,The bank with the check (drive through). Tractor Supply for equine food (100lbs), mature dog food for my foster, kitty litter for my grand cats and 80 lbs of sunflower seeds for my wild bird feeders. Kroger for prescriptions and a few groceries. Food Giant for orange juice as Kroger had absolutely none of any brand, And last to gas up my car…at $1.85 a gallon. I used hand sanitizer wipes everywhere I went and wiped down my steering wheel and door handles every in and out. Came home and scrubbed my hands several times after unloading things.
Charles Darwin believed in survival of the fittest. Chesney seems to believe in survival of the most obnoxious. On another note, saw two robins while out walking today. I’m glad today is the first day of Spring. Such a nice, sunny day.

Chesney ancestors were very prolific!
Funny how they seem to always get in some sort of trouble. Family trait?

Does Chesney belong in the Galapagos?
