Awwwww! Puck is right, you made the right call, Woman. It is completely understandable to stress-eat a cheesecake, especially a lemon cheesecake. Mmmmm noms. :) There ought to be an emergency cheesecake kept frozen in case of emergencies. Oh yeah, that was the emergency backup! :p
kitten update. Puck is starting to eat on his own and drink on his own. hes still small for his age but he is fearless and loves to climb my leg until I pick him up so he can snuggle. Will be tough to let him go when its time …. but he will get a nice home so there is that
Now I want cheesecake, but I already went shopping yesterday — dang it! OTOH, I do have the ingredients to make a Boston cream pie … Has anyone else here been stress baking?
Shopping has been … odd … I’ve been getting supplies about every 18 days or so, and the safety measures at the shops keep changing … Now everyone is required to wear face masks in public, and the aisles are marked (on the floor!) as One Way, so shoppers can maintain safe distancing. I was surprised to see how many people were wearing what looked to be surgical masks. I though those were in short supply? I bought a bunch of handmade cotton ones from those wonderful folks at etsy, and the fabric the crafters used came in a wide variety of bright, cheerful patterns … polka dots, floral, geometric, retro 60s style …
Whelp, this was supposed to be a quick peek and then back to bed, but now I’m wide awake … Might as well get to work on that Boston cream pie! Much love to all you wonderful Orbsters! Your company during these stressful times means a lot to me, and I look forward to seeing how you’re all doing every day! XOXOXOXOX :-D
This strip expresses my current feeling perfectly.
OT: PAUL
Paul is having a feeding tube implanted today, along with biopsies of his tongue, throat, and the spot in his left lung. It breaks my heart that I can’t be there with him.
Informal poll should you choose to answer:We’ve had many kitties over the years. Until the 3 we’ve had now for the past 16 yrs, all of our kitties lived long lives, 20+ yrs. Just fed them cat chow and the occasional treat and no issues. Yearly well visits and done. These days cats just seem to be sicker, earlier. Kidney disease, thryoid issues. Not only my 3 but of the 8 between me and my grown kids we have 6 (!) of them now on meds ranging in ages from 4 yrs to 16. I’ve read about blame cast on canned food linings, poor quality ingredients, distemper and 3 yr rabies vaccines. We feed them BBuffalo and 1 Friskies food they will both eat (the one with the least phosphorus). They both “need” rx food but it would cost us $160 a MONTH just for the food… and well, fixed income, and they turn their noses up at it anyway. Having kitties has become so expensive we’ve already decided we can only afford 1 at a time going forward and will have to pay for care insurance for any new ones. I have a theory, purely unscientific. All of our kitties are rescues (natch). They all got “fixed” before they were 2 months old. In the old days they waited til they were 6 months so their hormones were more mature. I get why they do it but not why so young! I think it’s affecting their entire systems. This has me considering I’d have no choice but to go with a breeder next time to avoid this early neutering. It would be a first in our family. Anyway. Is it just our bunch or are you folks also noting that your kitties seem to be more sick these days than kitties you had maybe in the last century? thanks…
Elvis-Anum: I will continue my report. The illness continues throughout Egypt and Afar.
Puckmosis: Many people have to meet to conduct business but are unable to be closer than three cubits.
Beatrixia: I have an idea on how to help. Why not have the royal messengers send messages from the top of the pyramids by using signal flags?
Queen Catsepshut the Golden: I did wonder what those pyramids were for besides taking up room in the desert. We can send business messages and messages of encouragement to our people via flag.
Lupinium: Your Majesty, I have a song of encouragement to be signaled to the people:
Hello Everyone. I’m reaching out to the BCN community as my greatest cat-care resource team! My boy Romeo has struvite crystals. He’s had one total urethral blockage that required catheterization. He’s currently on an anti-spasmodic, a pain reliever, and an antibiotic. He’s got a urinary health dry food and a medicated wet food. He’s not super into the wet food and I think he’s eating less than he should. His urine is still a bit dribbly and very small clumps. Hardly ever is there a really good size clump in the litter box.
Does the community have any suggestions for me? This is my first male cat and I had no idea this could be an issue. Thanks in advance for all your help!
Forsoothe, today is Talk Like Shakespeare Day. It is also his “official” birthday, as no one knows exactly what day he was born. So Hoppye Birdye Tue Yewes, Will. (And no one will mention this Francis Bacon fellow, okay?)
I’m fighting my desire to reward myself with food for dealing with what’s happening around me. I rewarded myself thirty pounds of fat the last time I did that.
I finally watched the YouTube tutorial that Ms. Dunn did with all of the comments. That was fun to watch. And the comments where fun to read. I recognized many of the commenters names. It was too soon after Petey’s death for me to watch live. Petey died the 15th and the live program was the 17th. And that little Lupin is a charmer.

They say we have to stay in place
We won’t come out until it’s safe
Well I don’t know, shouldn’t be so blue
’Cause you got me, and I got all of you
Cake
I need you, cake
I need you, cake
They say we need to stay in house
Stocked with food, cozy as a robber mouse
I guess that’s so, we do have a lot
And at least we’re thankful for all the things we got
We got flowers in the spring
We got Puck to wear his bling
And when we’re sad, Lupin’s a clown
And if we get scared, Elvis is always around
Don’t let them say this song’s too long
‘Cause I don’t care, I know the flow’s all wrong
So Goldie, put your paw in mine
Your living here with us has been sublime
We got you, babe

And the stress that you now know
Will melt away

And then a hero comes along
A cat you can meow on

You know one day it will arrive
We can get together and purr,
Give out boops and hugs with fur,
And you’ll finally see the truth
We’re all heros there for you!
