At my age the candles decided follow the recommendations of the fire department and elected representatives for the honor.

If you examine the third panel closely, you’ll notice it contains 44 candles. This most likely means that Jim Davis is acknowledging that Garfield’s first appearance was in 1976, in the comic strip “Jon”.

The fact that each candle’s foot is bigger that it’s body is freaky. Anyone else feeling that? I guess it wasn’t as bad as the birthday cake’s hands from earlier this week.

Why must so many of us die to commemorate something you don’t want commemorated? We candles say that it’s better to fade away than to burn out.

You’re too old for that when the first candle lit is melted down to its bottom by the time you get the last candle lit.

Tomorrow you’ll be another year older, but it’ll make you 42 times more awesome

When you get to my age, it’s not a couple of candles on top of a cake. It’s a five alarm fire in a bakery.
