National Ex-Spouse Day. With the exception of one brother’s ex-wife, Carol, my divorced brothers would rather not “celebrate” their ex-wives. That’s 6 ex-wives, divided among 3 of my 6 brothers. Jim had the one named Carol who is still family to us and he and his adult kids still see her. Joe has one ex-wife, Paul has 2 exes and John has 3 exes. None of those 4 brothers have wives now.

National Gardening Day. It’s much too early for gardening around here. And the weather has turned to winter on us, with our high temperature today only expected to get into the 30’s and into the low 20’s Tuesday night. The only gardening I can do is taking care of the flowers and tomato plants I have under grow lights in the house.

To marilynnbyerly from yesterday’s comments, if you could share your peach cobbler recipe here, that would be nice. It might irritate the trolls who think all of our comments should be about the strip (even though the trolls don’t limit their comments to the strip), but I think other people might also like to see the recipe.

It was really cold and windy here today and it looks like it’s going to be cold pretty much all week, but I did at least see a goldfinch at one of my bird feeders yesterday. Goldfinches are among my favorite birds.

Got it bad, doesn’t he?

I cannot see that Bluebell should be jealous – if she were, she certainly wouldn’t help. Just like Annie, she only seems to be worried about our little Ches-nee (as we also do – worrying about him).

I usually read a few of my favorite cartoon just before bed if I’m late enough for the content change-over, then come back for the comments section the next day. Last night as I was settling into bed, I thought “f*rt hearts” for this cartoon. You’re welcome.

Love seeing a smile on Chesney’s usually grumpy face!….. even if it will no doubt be short lived-

Some sad news to report. One of the Boston kitties, Little Bear, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was the brother of Timon (same mother, but consecutive litters), and he loved his big brother. He was always a bit skittish, and Timon was his security blanket. But he liked being patted and had the loveliest, deep purr. He would have been 14 in August. He and Timon both started losing weight last November. So far, all available fingers crossed, Timon is responding well to the special food and meds. Wish I could be over in Boston to support my cousin.

Wow, I never thought I’d see Chesney this happy! Forget the net, they’re going to need a shovel for the floor! On another note, saw two robins, some juncos, and a varied thrush while out walking today.

We went shopping today and I saw a hawk on a pole looking down in a field for breakfast.
