Definitely. Plus, R.J. gave Cobra a big hug during a mission, I remember. He was also very happy when Rip and Cobra got engaged in the previous timeline. Rip Haywire has definitely done better with its reboot than DC Comics.

So, RJ & Cobra’s relationship is likely the same as the previous reality. He has known Cobra since she and Rip found him living alone in Alaska (I think). And, in today’s strip, referenced abandonment issues, echoes a conversation he had with Rip a few years ago when he was smaller (https://www.gocomics.com/riphaywire/2017/11/22).
Continuity is like Cheerios. Nice, but is that all you really want for breakfast? We’ve got a set up for a nice Mom’s Day strip. We’ve got an RJ storyline. And it’s always awesome to see Cobra do her thing. Even when it doesn’t make sense, Rip Haywire is still one of the best strips on this site.

Now that raises some interesting questions. Why does he think of Cobra as his mother? Why not Breezy? Resonance from the previous timeline?

Did Cobra just get a warm fuzzy? I didn’t know she was capable of having warm fuzzies.

Maybe RJ is thinking of what is inferred in today’s Chickweed Lane and Wednesday’s Last Kiss.

The hair. Look at the hair, then tell me they aren’t blood-related.

I’m sure Breezy understands. After all, she does have a little Fireball of her own to raise…

Wow, compared to R.J.’s height, Cobra is one tall Amazon!

I think Cobra’s last comment is not meant just for RJ but us readers as well: " let’s not overthink this."
