Sounds like there may be more than one Full Moon. By the way, didn’t the “Munsters” look forward to that? Seems they did that a couple of times on that show.
The Arlo that normally inhabits this comic strip would have shown up with a bottle of SPF 50 sunscreen and a kind offer to help Janis mitigate the unhealthy aspects of sunbathing. And as usual Jimmy would not show us the 5th panel.
Work on the ocean beach, have for years, deeply tanned, so much so it lasts through most winters, heading into my 8th decade of life and cancer has never been an issue. Dry skin on the other hand…
I wonder if, considering Arlo’s age, he is doing some modified fantasizing about a young Bo Derek (with Janis’ face and beaded hair imposed) coming toward him on the sand in the moonlight as Bolero plays in the background.
It loses something if he is thinking about it occurring in the sun because of the economy size SPF bottle in hand.
Life isn’t healthy, so I shall just muddle through as best as I see fit and will respect the decision of others to do the same. Let Darwinism take over.
I’m quite fair skinned and learned back in my teen years that no matter how much I try, I’ll barely tan. Where I grew up the summers can get up to 120 degrees. Once I found that I don’t really tan I decided it wasn’t worth it. This was the 70s when tans were considered healthy. Let me tell you, I had to put up with a lot of teasing over being so pale.
Well, now I have the last laugh. I look at least 10 years younger than all of my old friends. While I have had some seborrheic keratoses removed and one precancerous mole, I haven’t developed any kind of skin cancer. Both of my brothers and my sister have had early basal cell carcinomas removed (they all spent a lot of time outdoors), a several high school friends have had some sort of skin cancer.
A tan indicates some damage has occurred. The UV waves that stimulate the melanocytes also damages DNA. Not even a little tan is safe.
I never sunbathed but I did sunburn in a heartbeat. I ended up with skin cancer at 49 at the center of my skull towards the front and they had to cut out a 1"+ circle of hair permanently with it. Turns out that was a lot of long hair that was never coming back. A little does grow in around the scarring—pointing straight up till it gets long and heavy enough to pull it down. Quite the cowlick. But that’s a lot better than my daughter, who got melanoma at 26. (They caught it very early, she survived.) Don’t sunbathe.

If you do it moderately there shouldn’t an issue. Besides, Vitamin “D” is a weapon against Corona-Virus.

They cut off some more skin cancer from my mother this past Thursday.
It will be good when they cure that set of nuisances.

But without the sun you may suffer from vitamin D deficiency

If Janis is going to live dangerously she should go for full exposure.

Arlo, if she is like most women, she has 18 pounds of goopy sun block smeared all over her anyway.

Now that the idea is in his head, there will surely be occasion to need to mop the bathroom floor after all the sloshing tonight.

This curiously reminds me of the idea of a space journey to the Sun… but we’ll have to land at night.

And, as we all know Arlo, not much bathing will get done, beloved wife, on the other hand, will (both hands, actually).
That post, as I was typing it, kept opening more “opportunities” to be euphemistic… ☺

Eat fruit better than sunlight and safer for vitamin D.
