Let’s see, here is his list of what he wishes to accomplish,1. 1000 pounds of lasagna per sitting (right now he is 990)2. Sending Nermal to Abu Dhabi within 5 minutes 3. Kicking Odie so far, it reaches Liz’s House. Anyone else got some more?
Relaxing enough to have every muscle in your body be satisfied. No aches and pains that creak and moan so loud that it makes sleeping difficult. Pondering if the pictures playing out on the inside of your eyelids is a dream or reality. A soft pillow that is firm enough that when you curl your arms around it… your neck does not hurt. Debating inside your head the logic of having set meal times. But getting distracted by wondering why dappled light feels so good.
Well… there goes my dream day. (Sigh!) Back to reality! :)
Hey Garfield, it was nice to see you making an appearance on Dan Collin’s strip (Looks Good on Paper) today. I didn’t realize I was reading the wrong strip. LOL
For those who do not understand, I will explain the joke in this comic.
I assume you have an understanding of how the Garfield universe works, but for those who don’t. Garfield is about a man, and his cat. The man who is named Jon, has a bland life, and has a special inability to gain the affection of women. Jon is the protagonist in this universe. the cat who is Garfield, eats lasagna, sleeps all day, and is just plain lazy and mischievous, and he is the antagonist.
This comic takes place in a room with a light purple counter, and a light pink wall.
In the first panel Jon is shown visibly angry, with his arms crossed. Garfield is shown laying down on the counter. This repeats for all 3 panels.
Now Jon is angry because Garfield sleeps all day. So Jon says to Garfield “Have you ever considered achieving something?”. Garfield replies “Besides perfection?”.
That’s just the setup, and explanation of the comic. Not the joke.
The actual joke is Jon is angry at Garfield, because Garfield sleeps all day, and is lazy. Garfield has been like this since coming into existence. Jon cares for Garfield’s health, and wants Garfield to be active and healthy. So Jon opposes Garfield’s laziness, by angrily requesting he do something other than sleep, but Garfield is comfortable with how his life is playing out. Garfield wants to be lazy, he wants to sleep all day. So Garfield having his life the way he would like it to be, replies “Besides perfection?”. This, this is hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing at this particular reply. I always knew Jim Davis was a funny guy, but never knew that after 42 years, he could still make me laugh.

Amen Garfield! When you are perfect – things happen. You don’t need to do anything. I self-identify as perfect.
