My father always promised to paint a ladder white and put ribbons on it so we could elope.

But Dad, remember we’re moving in with you and Mom after the honeymoon.

Looks like Dad is going to sample the merchandise.

Son: On top of that, Elvis will be marrying us in Las Vegas, so the marriage won’t be legit.

Dad’s been known to help in a pinch.

My dad always said he would give me an aluminum ladder when I was ready….I opted for a wedding instead….LOL

Dads tend to get verklempt over the strangest things.

Because contemporary weddings are so centered around the bride that they almost exclude the man she intends to marry, I wonder how many daughters who would sacrifice a fantasy event of their own for the illicit thrill elopement suggests. I’m prepared to hold on to thatidea until someone starts publishing a magazine called Modern Groom.

My sister-in-law’s husband tells me our father-in-law offered him $10,000 to elope. I’d like to know where that offer was when I got married.
