The ‘tree falling without a sound’ parable reminded me of the Quantum Theory ‘Big Bang.’ Did the Big Bang really make the sound of a ‘big bang’ if the element hydrogen gas needed to propagate sound waves wasn’t created until ‘one sixth of a billionth second’ after the big bang?

Nope – that is the Ent!

Sometimes when a tree falls in our place other trees will catch it in their arms. It’s quite endearing.

Decades ago when I was a young man, a neighbor planted cute trees near our lot line. Now one’s trunk is growing around my fence and another, half dead, is dropping massive and heavy limbs into my lawn. In our WI forests, they simply drop over and between 100 and 1,000 years, poof, gone.

That poor tree has been truncated.
