In this case, “anxious” is more appropriate than first suspected.

Grammar Police fail. Anxious also means : ardently or earnestly wishing.

I would tell tell that old bat to quit correcting everyone all the time or get the heck outta here. She thinks she’s so freaking superior, she just has to show it. What A beeyatch

Looks like Dot has triggered a few people here. I guess I like her because I do the same thing she does. My friend says “This works pretty good!” whereupon I always correct him: “Works pretty WELL.” He gives me a mostly blank look with just a hint of irritation, repeats his sentence with no correction, and carries straight on. “Pearls before swine…” I mutter.

Unless you are in a classroom situation with actual students, it is rude and obnoxious to correct a person’s grammar. Dot is out of line.

I understand Dot’s frustration over poor grammar but, I resist correcting anyone. That’s not my place. My pet peeve is when someone has witnessed something and is asked about it on the TV news, would say " I SEEN" such and such, instead of "I SAW ". Arrrrr. I also have a friend who always says “fittin’ ta”. I’ve corrected her many times but, she continues saying it, so I don’t anymore.
