We have wonderful edifices today. But they won’t last for millenia. Heck a sports stadium has an average life expectancy of about 20 years.

Using a scaffold to build a pyramid is not a bad idea. Problem is that Egypt had few trees.

If I may be a bit pedantic about it they didn’t use mortar. Usually only cut stone expertly fitted.
