Used to be able to run 2-3 miles a day. On the Mississippi bottoms, that’s not a hard thing—hills are nothing but a bad dream. But those days are long gone. Now we’re more into walking.
Panel 2: Frazz has no green sweatshirt.Panel 3: Frazz picks up the shirt.Panel 4: is wearing the shirt.Panel 5: Frazz is taking the shirt back off, having realized he put it on inside-out. (Notice in panel 4, the label on the outside.)
Clash of worldviews. Seeing accomplishment over the course of a life verses over the course of a day. Both valid, of course, a worldview isn’t right or wrong, better or worse, it just is what it is. After living in Memphis for 10 years, walking 10 miles round trip to work and back 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, I calculated that in total I walked 24,000 miles, the circumference of the earth. Mentioned it at dinner, teenage son said “And you ended up right where you started.”
Simple translation of the third panel: “I don’t care about what interests you. I only care about what interests me. in particular, I don’t care about what you want to hear. I only care about what I want you to hear. And since I am an adult and you’re a kid, and I am a teacher and you’re a student, I win.”
While in the military, 40 years ago, I would either run about 3 miles, every other day, or, take my camera for a walk, for about 10 miles. BUT, those 40 years, coupled with asthma, arthritis, bursitis, and feet like Fred Flintstone, I no longer have any place I need to be, in that much of a hurry.

It’s not the miles in your life that matter, it’s the life in your miles.
(Okay, so I plagiarized a little bit)

Nice word play, but miles in a lifetime matters less than miles in a week. Fitness evaporates remarkably fast.

Your personality is fixed. I believe it’s more accurate to say …“beliefs influencing…” here.
