Dad should be happy that Calvin has a skill set that can get him a job in the future — making fake polls.

He’s ready for a $250k Data Science job

Calvin would do well in politics. He’s doing better at six than most of the people now are doing in their forties, fifties, sixties, seventies.

EXTRA NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN INVITE TO TALK POLITICS! I DON’T GIVE A RIP!

And yet he doesn’t bother with his homework.

Apparently the chart’s X A.D.A.R. axis is bedtime and the Y A.D.A.R. axis is the dad’s rating. Makes me wonder, is the mean a bad thing or just the average? Is the mode a common number or a bedtime story?

At the age of six I knew from nothing about X & Y axes…

And back when this strip was new (1990) Calvin didn’t even have Excel to help him make those.

(Excel for Windows had been introduced three years earlier but we have seen that Calvin’s family did not have a home computer.)

It is summer vacation after all. A later bedtime won’t hurt him.

And yet in school he’s terrible with numbers.

Calvin if you keep on doing this, you’ll be one heckuva spin doctor when you grow up..;D

Another con job that doesn’t go anywhere.

Does making polls build character?

The kid’ll be a powerhouse when he’s got his law or business degree.

Polls will “reveal” anything. If you poll the right people,

All that work and Dad’s not buying it, homework is only fun when it gives you an instant advantage…

Dad, at least he’s not trying to see the inside of the car using a chainsaw…

Can you imagine how amazing Calvin would be if he applied the same work ethic to other things?

Calvin’s future is well charted.

Calvin has a future in business. Executives love charts.

Calvin has an axis to grind.

More convincing than many presentations I’ve sat through!

He sure spends longer on the charts than on homework.

I agree with his dad. Calvin spends more time drawing up idiotic charts than he does doing his homework!

Calvin understands percentages? If he can convert a percentage to both a fraction and a decimal, he’s way ahead of most adults. And if he can figure out both a percent increase AND a percent decrease, well, he’s right up there with Einstein.

Bright future in marketing.

Dad is wondering I’m sure why Calvin doesn’t work this hard on his homework.

So, now we learn that Calvin is a guru of economics and polling. Excellent!

Next series of graphs should show the reasons that, instead of raising the allowance for work done, Dad should just hand over a signed check to Calvin for existing. Follow up by having Dad call the other household and telling them that they are socialists because they want to give away Calvin’s check.

Yes, I got a Calvin check this past spring and used it immediately. It was the patriotic thing to do.

Now apply that much effort in school.

Since Calvin’s relations with other six-year-olds appears to be either non-existent or hostile, I’m guessing his sample size was one.

Amazing that Calvin can plot curves and calculate percentages, but can’t add 4 + 3.

Dad approval rating is higher than the percentage of that rapper who competes for the Office .

Unless Hobbes is also six or Calvin used the duplicator again, the plural is a lie.

I want to know how Dad gets an approval rating of just under 10% with a single respondent. Gotta be either 0% or 100%. Clearly rigged.

My uncle and his daughter we both big fans of C&H. She pulled these “Dad Poll” charts on her pop a couple of times, much to his amusement.

100% of Dads with a son named Calvin don’t care about their approval rating.

Me – some years ago

Dad – Calvin has found his niche – get him a job doing this and have him pay rent.

My goodness! Looks like Calvin will end up as either a journalist or A Democrat politician.

This kid belongs to the boardroom wizardry. A typical CEO with charts, trends and solutions bundled up together. Cant wait to see him grow up.

Six year olds love charts
