The obstacle course is a typical cat manoeuvre. A cat can walk along a shelf that is full of nasty china ornaments, and not dislodge a single one. No matter how much you want him/her to. Of course, if the cat wants to break one …
I want to give you all an update on Yeti. He completed the chemotherapy in early July, and after his follow-up visit last week, the Vet / Oncologist is very pleased with how well he has healed. Yeti’s gained weight, is happy and active, and the chemo seems to have had no negative affect on him. I think he enjoys being the “Only Cat” now.
When the diagnosis first came down, so soon after I lost Zoomer, I was not prepared to lose Yeti as well. The Vet did a wonderful job, and I hope we will have a lot of years together. I thank you all for the good wishes when I first mentioned this. Love all you Orbsters! :-)
OT: Katie and Tag. Tag, has tested for Coccidia a protozoa and is being given Albon for 20 days. Not sure how he got that parasite, but it has made him sluggish and sickish. When Hubby brought him home from the shelter, I knew that something was wrong. A poop test and visit to our wonderful vet, confirmed that I was right, just didn’t know what was going on. Today will be a fourth day on med, and he has perked up a little. The day he plays, I’ll know he is better. As for Katie, the terror, is full of beans, has scaled the height of my dad’s old secretary and sleeps/surveys the kingdom and slaps me when she has had enough of hair combing, I have gotten after her for trying to terrorize Tag. I’m going to let the shelter know what has happened in case other kitties might have this nasty Coccidia.
Well, this morning was interesting. First, there was the live spider (size of a half-dollar) in the bathroom sink. Fortunately, I found it and not Marie. If she had, all of you would have heard the scream, even those in New Zealand.
After the spider was mercifully flushed, I let the dog Iko out of her crate and took her the kitchen for her morning kibble. After the dog was sated and let out to the backyard, I went to my favorite chair to read the paper. As I approached, I saw Mittens sitting in my chair, looking at me, and there was a toy mouse on the floor in front of the chair.
…Wait a minute…That toy looks very real?…Wait a minute…The cats don’t presently have a toy mouse, especially one with fur!
I looked at Mittens and she at me. Her paw’s were crossed very stately and looked very proud of herself.
She meowed at me one time and a deep purr was heard.
So after the hasty funeral in the backyard, I am finally in my favorite chair, rubbing a purring and content cat head and writing to all of you.
Lupin, always the skeptic—at least about other cats acheivements! The robber mice seem more impressed than I would have predicted. Of our El Biff is King of the catwalk!
Sooo much better than an actual cat show, where everything about the cat’s chancing of winning seem to have been determined before it was born. I had a Siamese whose one trick was to jump into your arms – whether you were ready or not. Nearly scared the pants off the cable guy.
Okay, fellow dinosaurs and old fossils, Today is Dinosaur Day! “Cheer up, sad world,” he said, and winked, “It’s kind of fun to be extinct!” (Ogden Nash, and que Emile Saint-Saëns).
It is also National CAD Day. No, not the cads in office, Computer Aided Drafting. Computers have taken all of the fun out of it. Fortunately, it is also National Coloring Book Day. I wonder if the occurrence on the same day is coincidental. Probably not. Hey! Who stole my chartreuse crayon?
Appropriate to National Kids Day, it is also National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. No, child, do not put catsup, mustard, and pickle relish on your ice cream sandwich. The grilled onions are okay …
It is also Psychic Day. I will let our Resident Purveyor of Negative Pronouncements, handle that one. Over to you, Professor Harwood …

Any cat could score a “10” in treat pleads. It’s basic cat behavior and no doubt one of the first things taught to them by their mothers.
“Listen up kittens, this is something you’ll need to know in order to manage your cat servant(s).”

Well familiar with how cats jump and looking at the trajectory of that high jump…I’m not sure Elvis actually landed it, at least not gracefully.
But I’m sure if that happened, he just did the cat thing of shaking it off and then walking off, pretending like it never happened. :P
