Oh my goodness Earl you sound just like my grandpa Joe who’d watched the Mets’ (he was a Met fan) and we were in walking distance of Shea Stadium so we got to go to all the home games. Plus Papa Joe (his nickname) always got tickets for us and we had a blast. Plus I got to meet all the players as they all knew my grandpa from his job. In fact several of the players dads worked with my Papa Joe. However, at home many times he worked late so he would doze off so I would write down the stats and how the game finished so when he woke up and said “what happened” did they win. I had a play by play for him. He’d give me a big kiss and 50 cents for me and my buddy Patrick to go get comic books and more from Mr. Lavine’s store (candy, books, newspapers, comics and more.
This is so my husband almost every time. At times when he falls asleep while watching tv I hear him sleeping and he starts snoring I ask him if he tired he says no I’m just clearing my throat. yeah right lol
Years ago, both my brother and I had fallen asleep watching a ball game on television. We were awakened by peals of laughter. My little grandson was busy playing orchestra conductor to our snoring symphony.
My dad always leaves the room with the TV on. Be could be gone for 20 minutes but if you change the channel or turn it off he’ll complain that be was “still watching that.”

“I was seeing my eyelids’ insides” is one excuse that’s classic, but “I was clearing my sinuses” sounds new.

For once, I identify completely. I have to have an Audible book playing to go to sleep. If the book ends in the middle of the night, Iwake up. . .

How it goes most sleep when TV is on, Opal should ask what he was watching.
