I dunno about elsewhere, but I found out a year or so ago that the little gas symbol on the dash has an arrow on either side, which points to the side the gas cap is on
Getting gas for the car would be soooo much easier if the auto industry would standardize the side that the gas cap is on. Pick a side, then traffic through the gas stations would go alot smoother.
They make the gas cap very political nowadays, it’s either Right or Left. . . Whatever happened to the old days when it was Center, under the licence plate?
To make matters worse, the hose is not long enough to reach. But when you move your car to correct things, somebody else pulls in and takes the last spot at the pumps.
Locally most stations have hoses long enough to reach around, but that doesn’t work for my van. However, the fill is right next to the driver’s door, you have to open the door to get at the fill tube.
At least at the Costco stations out here, it doesn’t matter which side the pump is on, as the hose is long enough to reach either side. Unless you’re driving something big & tall, of course.
In High School I had a couple of cars that had the Gas Filler behind the license plate, I could use either side of the pump. I even got rear-ended once and the car didn’t even blow up.
Most of my old GM cars (60’s and 70’s) had the filler behind the license plate, which was hinged at the bottom. Worked from either side of the pump. Regular or Unleaded. ;)

Decades ago put small sticker on lower corner of windshield on side of gas. Had two cars with opp side gas. So really helped, Never 50/50 again

And no matter how rarely a Plugger washes his vehicle, there always a 50-50 chance it will rain.

I wish the cap were on the driver’s side… I find it hard to pull up on the opposite side and judge the distance properly.

My problem always seems to be – the one empty pump – is on the wrong side of my car.

Best car I ever owned had the gas fill under the rear licence plate.

Not as bad as when your gas gauge breaks and you don’t get it fixed. I know from experience.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. More like 10/90 for me and I even have an icon on the dash pointing the right way. Get it right most of the time.
